Accidentally deleted my facebook account by changing email

My family member accidentally deleted my facebook account when they changed their email address on their account to our shared email address, now I don't show up anywhere on friends lists, only on applications I had joined and they say member profile unavailable. I have sent in excess of 50 emails to facebook asking for assistance in the last almost 8 weeks and still have had no useful response (please utilize the help centre doesn't do jack for me!)Please help!?!

we tried that and I don't show up at all as a friend on anyones profile, however if they have added an application and I have joined their group it shows a stock fb profile picture and says facebook user aka ______ and shows application statistics that I have earned but no personal details.

  • badthree Feb 16, 2009

also if you search for me I don't show up at all (not even using the advanced search) but I show up in my apps that I had joined (alias only though personal data)

  • Incognita01 Feb 18, 2009

    Same thing happened to me...

  • badthree Feb 19, 2009

windberry37 it's a generic family email address so the whole family use it it just so happens that the newest family member didn't know what they were doing at the time they tried to change their email and they didn't need to provide a password to facebook to change their email.
I put a lot of work into my facebook account and it contained information that I did not get the chance to transfer out of facebook that I really need back.

  • badthree Feb 19, 2009

    thanks for trying crazydani
I have tried all those emails and more but still no response theory is though that they have access to your profile to make the application run so I must still exist in the system.

  • badthree Mar 06, 2009

    thanks everyone for trying
I lodged a complaint with TRUSTe watchdog because facebook would not respond to my emails asking if they still held my personal details on file......and 10 days later I have my account back : ) yay!!!!!

  • badthree Mar 13, 2009

I told them that facebook would not respond to my request asking if they still held my personal information this makes it a privacy issue which can be dealt with by TRUSTe (however please keep in mind that I did actually send several emails to facebook over 9 weeks and they ignored all of them) and they allow facebook 10 days to respond my case they responded on the 10th day. TRUSTe can only help with privacy issues.

Hi i've got the same problem. Me and my boyfriend both had an account. When we wanted to add my emailaddress to his account, my account was deleted. I've sent about 50 emails to facebook but they can't seem to help me.

  • Anonymous May 22, 2009

    I did that too... sigh!
It's been 8 days, I've sent more than 20 emails to 6 different FB addresses and fill up countless forms with one reply informing me to click on 'Help' for assistance and two other replies to verify my email. I'm going nuts!
Can anyone list down the steps to contact TRUSTe watchdog?

  • cynthialpark May 22, 2009

My husband wanted me to manage his facebook account and so I used the
address I use for my account. Then Facebook reassigned my email to the
his account, removing it from mine. We have since removed my email
account from his, but since that was
the only email associated with my Facebook account I had no way to log
in. I then tried to create a new account but that didn't work so I
deactivated the new account. How can I get my Facebook account back? For the past week I have...over 50 times.....emailed Facebook and clicked on the "reset password" thingy.....NO RESPONSE AT ALL!

    Hey badthree,
I haven't been able to login to my facebook either
because it says my email is unregistered so I emailed TRUSTe watchdog
like you said but they said my problem didn't fall under their privacy
program? They said that they would still send it to facebook but I'm
guessing this means that facebook doesn't have to fix it? Can you tell
me what you told them (TRUSTe) to get it fixed?

Windberry 37: I think badthree was asking if anyone knew how to get their OLD FB page back as I am asking. I put a lot of work and effort into it and am not interested in starting over. If it is gone forever, I will just move on, not the end of the world but I have heard of people being able to restore after similar things have happened. Thanks anyway, but I am looking for a different kind of advice.

Crazydani: it just says that I cannot be found as a user. It's as if I never existed.

badthree: it seems that if you write to Facebook, they may restore after a few days. Here are some addresses to write to. I have written and will let you know if it works...

I actually ended up getting my old account back by following the procedure I indicated above. All I have to say if you have this problem is forward an old facebook email like a friend request of inbox notification (has your unique numbers embedded) and just be patient. It may take a couple of weeks but they will contact you. The problem is each response takes a few weeks, so if they need additional information from you...the clock starts over.

    Hi XXXXXX,

I have restored access to your account, and have reset your password as a security measure. You will be able to log in with the following new information:

Please note that Facebook passwords are case sensitive (FACEbook is not the same as facebook). If you're having trouble with this login/password combination, I suggest copying and pasting the login and password into the appropriate fields.

Once logged in, you can change your password from the "Settings" tab of the Account page. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for contacting Facebook,

    User Operations

My best advice to you at this point is two fold.
First: Don't share your email address and password with ANYONE even a family member for reasons that should now be obvious to you.
Second: Create a new email address and then create a new facebook identity.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

The first thing you should do is contact Facebook and explain what has happened. Even though you can not sign in, you should still be able to contact them, if they ask for account details give them the ones you know, the ones you used to set up the account. If you can not contact them for any reason, ask a friend or family member with an account to find out what to do if an account is hacked. Facebook should have something in place for such a thing

Why does facebook keep tring to sign me into another persns profile ?

Sounds as if your account has been hijacked. Please explain exactly what happens. Do you use your email as a sign in or a nick? Can you get into your own account? If you can, change your password, make it something difficult and write it down. Check all of your settings to see if anything has been changed. Delete all old photos and photos you have received from others, go through your friends list and unfriend anyone who is not actually a friend or family, etc. Delete all apps and games and videos.

Purple writing, cant get to my wall

Sounds as if someone has hijacked your account. immediately change your password make it difficult and WRITE it down. Then change all email addresses and delete all but the most necessary personal information. Delete all of your apps, since one of them is likely to have given someone the way in. Delete all videos or other peoples' photos that you have saved. Unfriend all those accept those who are really your friends or family. Then contact Facebook and tell them what is going on. When you have done all this, deactivate your account for a week and the offender will likely become impatient and move on. Good luck.

I lost my facebook when I tried to log on with my password. Help

As long as you have your email account, you should be able to log in to FB (use your original message from Facebook if nothing else works. Link can be found from your email by searching Facebook...the first two messages from them).

Knowing that one account is dying, it's time to go to Facebook setting on top right corner and choose ACCOUNT SETTINGS - there you find all options from changing email address to password etc...
