Question about Sony Part 996804671 Service Manual for 996804671

Damage to screen

I carelessly dropped a couple of spots of super glue onto the screen of my LG KF700 mobile phone.
The phone is functioning without fault but I would like to renew the screen. Is this possible?

It is possible but a little tricky. there are several products out there such as goof off or goo gone or other disolving agents. down side is the plastics and materials in your phone could be adversely affected by the use of such products test on a old phone or a small portion of the phone where it is unoticible to see if the chemicals will react with the device. if no signs of corossion or harmfulness are shown feel free to scrub the glue off
hope it helps

I recently brought out my vcr and am trying to clean it with Maxell VP-201 VCR pro head cleaner... but it doesn't say how to use it. Do you know where to apply the cleaner on the tape before I put it...

You can usually apply a couple of drops on the tape itself as it will not harm. The tape itself might have a hole located on the cassette itself close to the see through cover. We normal tell people to drop a couple of drops into the tape area

Always look for Video Splicing tape on google

Never!!! Never use Scotch tape on your audio or videotape, eventually a chemical reaction will cause the glue to melt down and leak to adjacent parts of the tape and damage it beyond repair. I have several 30+ year old recordings. Sound quality is fine BUT a few of these tapes have come off the hub and need to be re-attached. Any suggestions ? john30662@yahoo.com

its sounds like you have the real FUNK (the good stuff) music...

John, if you still have the casing for these little cassettes I will tell you how to roll these tapes back onto the hub. you will need some crazy glue and a tiny phillip screw driver...its operation time, unscrew the 1st tape that is off the hub..when you open it make sure that tiny metal w/cotton pad is intack now the tape is already off the hub right (take the hub and push side ways that small piece on wheel like...now straighten out the tape on the other side of you...put 1/4 or 1/8 of in onto the hub ..do not try to snap the tiny piece back in, slide it in sideway on top tape..once this done ...no tape is sticking out right...place the tape through its slots (so it can run smooth) we about to put it back together make sure the metal w/ cotton pad is still in its place.... screw it back together (crazy glue is only for the tapes casing that dont have screws or that cracked)....now continue the process for the rest,,,,yes I have done the same process for micro / regular cassettes/ VHS and the those 8's. like me I still have my tapes too but a suggestion its a little time consuming but you should either put these tapes on portable hard drive (500 gig) or burn it to CD...

hope this helpful

The "super" output should give you playback video just like the other outputs, only with the on-screen display. These decks use separate video and audio heads; dirty video heads could produce a "no video" symptom.

How to repair a hi8 tape

what's wrong with it? If the tape is broke then you might get away with super glueing it but i'd record the video elsewhere and bin it afterwards as it will only ruin the heads

This 78 rpm has a piece broken cleanly out of it. How can I attach the piece so that I can play & tape the record and then put it away?

The only way to do it is with superglue. You need to be very careful and apply it very lightly to the pieces possibily with a small sewing needle. Very fiddly work. I repeat tiny amounts of glue, otherwise they will cause a blob. You might need to test any glue on a record that has had it. Just to make certain the glue won't attack the plastic.

I RECORDED OFF OF TV ON A BRAND NEW 8 HOUR VHS TAPE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND NEVER PLAYED IT SINCE... TODAY I PUT THE TAPE IN AND THE VCR SHUTS DOWN... WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON, THE DISPLAY SHOWS "EJECT T"......

Well, it's always good to know the exact cause. Your post may help others. I deal in media issues all the time in the data processing world. Though not always the cause, it is unwise to at least examine the media when the hardware won't load it, and try others to certify the hardware functionality.

If your tape isn't actually broken why don't you try loading it and immediately fast-forwarding it past the defect? It should load fine a couple of feet into the tape. You may miss the beginning of your program but it won't be a total loss.

The tape broke and I am trying to put it back together so I don't lose the dictation

I have done this, carefully take the cassette apart,by removeing the screws,be sure and look at how it is assembled.
Remove both spools of tape.In the break area cut with a razor blade each sides of the spools so you have a smooth surface on the tape.
lay them on a flat surface, pointing towards each other,be carefull not to drop the spools.Put one (little) drop of supperglue on the tape, then put the other end of the tape on top, make sure the alignment is straight and you dont glue the tape to youre work area.Wait about five minutes, then reassemble. Works like a charm for me.

I was doing my nails and I accidently spilled glue on the screen of my mobile phone,(Helio Ocean 2) what should I use to get it off? Please Help

The bad news is that the screen and the glue are likely both made of the same thing, acrylic, so anyhting that removes acrylic will likely make your screen look crappy. you might want to try a VERY thing soft plastic scredrive ror something similar to see if you can pick off the glue.

The good news is you can call helio, get the insurance plan, wait about a month and then replace it for about $50.

Either way I reccomend ordering screen protectors, u can get them on eboy for about $2 a piece, i order them 5 at a time the ones i have are CRYSTAL clear and last several months. This way if it happens again, no big deal.

If the tape has ripped from the wheel itself then you can glue it back to the wheel with a good strong glue (I'd recommend araldite), or if the tape has ripped you can use sellotape to fasten the two sections back together.

I believe this cassette is moulded plastic so what you will need to do is carefully break it apart along the central seam to access and repair the tape itself, then use your strong glue to glue it back up after the repair is done. You have to be really careful dong this so as to not get glue inside the tape itself and gum up the mechanism.

Finally make sure you leave it to set properly before you try and play it (refer to the glue packet), for araldite I think its 24 hours. Also if you use glueto stick the tape back to the wheel make sure that is set before you reassemble the cassette or your wheel will get jammed.
