No more heating as the pilot light is out and it does not heat the water or radiators any more? I have pressed the reset button but the flames do not ignite and the heater just makes a whirring noise. It is very cold can anyone help me figure how to get the thing igniting again?

I have a BAXI combi Instant 105 HE bolier. It has been very cold for the past week and the hot water is not working (though the heating is). I have cleared the overflow flu pipe of ice but this has not solved the problem. Any suggestions?
sounds like your diverter valve is passing on the boiler, this diverts the heat either to the rads or to the taps, if its passing through the heating chanel it'll heat up the rads- may also be a scaled up secondary heat exchanger, hope this helps you
the boiler reqs to be pressurised to 1 bar in a cold state, in operation the heat expansion with cause the gauge to rise by about half a bar so in full working mode with heating on you'll expext the gauge to register around 1 1/2 bar-
i need to know boiler specifics- make and model but sounds like either the air pressure switch seized or the main printed circuit board, if the boiler has an overheat thermostat please ensure that the little red button hasnt popped out because this will prvent the boiler firing up- refer to the manufacturers instructions for location of the o/heat stat
either the h/w flow switch or diaphram reqs replacement or the secondary heat ex or (calorifier) is blocked and prevents the heat from leaving the biler to hget to he taps- the heat starts ok but backs up to the boiler very quickly causing it to shut down
