Question about Panasonic AG-HVX200 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

A clicking sound when the camera is off.

Whenever my HVX200 is either off or in playback mode there is a clicking sound that (sounds like it) comes from the lense compartment when it is tilted up and down. Is this normal? When the camera is powered on there is no problem. I just got it used off of ebay and was wondering if this was a defect.

Ag-hvx200 camera won't always switch mode from camera to pc or tape and can't access the menu. I can take it apart and reseat the ribbon cables and then it works again for about a month

The mode switch is defective and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

Panasonic HVX200 will not play back tape

Your playback heads might be clogged. I am not sure if this camera with give you a RF warning if your record heads get clogged. Also most professional machines drums are rated at 1000 - 1500 hours before they need to be replaced. If you are at 500 and never cleaned the heads it is time to. Run a cleaning tape a few times.

Polaroid CAA 03040S Camcorder no sound during playback

The camcorder sound can be set to one of ten levels, with 0 being no sound at all.

Turn the camcorder on and let it boot up. Press the Mode button. Move the cursor to the bottom icon, the "hammer and screwdriver." Press the Menu button to select this icon. Now use the down arrow button to scroll down to "Volume." Now press the menu key to select this, and you can check/set your volume as you wish.

You can download the PDF manual for this and all other current Polaroid cameras at www.polaroid.com

No Sound

The camcorder may be in what may be called "narration mode." This function mutes the playback audio so you can narrate with you own voice when playing tapes back. Check for a function like this in the playback sound menu.

Image and sound problems at playback

your tape guides are out of calibration on all your pre - recorded tapes , or they are out of adjustment ( maybe even loose ) now ; - - put your camcorder close , next to your ear ? and . . . listen ! to a new tape in play mode - if you hear a fluttering sound like a deck of cards being shuffled softly , the camera is damaging all your tapes and needs alignment ;

Problems with Playback and No Sound..

It seems you are having a tracking problem. When the tracking is out of sync, you will notice digitized drop out then even audio distorts. It is caused possibly by shift in mechanical system or changed value of electronic components in tracking circuit. It is standard repair cost to remedy this kind of problem. Probably cost you around $125-200 in US repair shops.
