hello d,
1. yes, with the proper rod, longer wires(3,4) and the blades must be over 2.5 metres (8 foot) above the floor.2. you need the proper type box; the mount/s and ball; the longer wires (3,4)with slender but connertors; and especially the safety pins, etc. with the proper rod, the fan will hang straight. and about 3 chock hours to do this here task. hope this helps.

I had the exact same problem. To solve it, I had a friend hold the area
of the fan that the globe screws into. I wore rubber dish gloves to get
a good grip and pushed up slightly on the globe as I turned
counter-clockwise. My friend held the other part and turned clockwise a
little as well. It took a lot of pressure for it to finally come loose
and then we just turned it about another 90 degrees and the globe slips
right out of the groove.
I couldn't believe how hard this was to do.

Hampton Bay is an exclusive brand of Home Depot. They would be the ones to help you with that. BUT .. from my experience I would say that the cost and trouble of getting and replacing the motor in that fan would be easilly rivalled by the cost and ease of buying and installing a new fan all together.
