hello d,
1. yes, with the proper rod, longer wires(3,4) and the blades must be over 2.5 metres (8 foot) above the floor.2. you need the proper type box; the mount/s and ball; the longer wires (3,4)with slender but connertors; and especially the safety pins, etc. with the proper rod, the fan will hang straight. and about 3 chock hours to do this here task. hope this helps.

SOURCE: hampton bay ceiling fan , model # 55295

I had the exact same problem. To solve it, I had a friend hold the area of the fan that the globe screws into. I wore rubber dish gloves to get a good grip and pushed up slightly on the globe as I turned counter-clockwise. My friend held the other part and turned clockwise a little as well. It took a lot of pressure for it to finally come loose and then we just turned it about another 90 degrees and the globe slips right out of the groove.

I couldn't believe how hard this was to do.

SOURCE: I have a Hampton Bay ceil fan model # AC-552

Hampton Bay is an exclusive brand of Home Depot. They would be the ones to help you with that. BUT .. from my experience I would say that the cost and trouble of getting and replacing the motor in that fan would be easilly rivalled by the cost and ease of buying and installing a new fan all together.

Light on ceiling fan is very dim. Do not have dimmer switch. Changed bulb but light is still dim. Could something be wrong with the fan?

If it has a remote, press down on the light button and keep it pressed down until your light gets to full brightness.

My light on my ceilinf fan will only stay on dim.. What can I do to fix it.. It only operates bt remote

if fault is not on remote , you may need to bring down the ceiling fan and check on stuck electrical contacts and sensors to fix the problem.

If you have a remote then you can't use the dimmer switch on the wall. Put in an on/off switch.

The lights have gone dim

Press the yellow button on the remote, do not release. You will notice that lights will go from bright to dim and vice versa. Remote shows percentage of light on the LCD (display). Good luck!

Older Model Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan: The Redington II w/Remote Control

Ironically, i am having the same problem with TWO different Reddington's in my house.

One is brand new, just hung a few weeks ago, the other is about 3 years old.

The new one -- the lights are stuck in a constant dim, bright, off, dim bright off, and the fan wont turn at all.

The old one, the lights wont come on and the fan will only spin slow.

Both failed within a day or two of each other, and this is driving me nuts.

I thought it might be the remotes, so I took both remotes and pulled the batteries out of each, but that didnt do anything.

If anyone else is having this problem, please post.
