This site is new to me so please be patient. I do not know how to "rate this fix". Please advise. Thanks

Yes. TV itself is great, it would just make life easier if I had a remote that works. I was actually looking at Logitech a little while ago. I use Logitech accessories with my computer and are very reliable.

Its strange to hear of a LCD tv being sold without a remote control. My guess is it is either missed out by the manufacture or the retailer to include it in the package. Please enquire with Kmart or the TV manufacture for the remote.

Also provide the TV model for better solutions if any.

Not all universal remote will work with all TV set or other devices, you can check first if that remote that you will be buying is known to work with that unit that you have, like those universal remote from Logitech they are mostly compatible with almost all devices that you may have...

The universal can be set up to the TV set, just not the cable box. This may be the reason why you were told it was useless by the installer. Also, a universal remote will not allow you to access all of the functions that the original remote will. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer and pricing a new remote that goes with your TV set. You will eventually need it.
