Scroll function on my Toshiba Satellite TouchPad isn't working

The TouchPad has been working fine since I purchased the laptop last February, but I think I unwittingly messed something up with a software update this week. The TouchPad allowed me to scroll by rubbing a finger up or down with the pointer displayed anywhere in the window, but this function isn't working. Now I can only scroll using the window scroll bar. When I open the pointing device tray icon in the taskbar, it offers options for a mouse rather than a TouchPad. Otherwise the pointer still works fine, but I would like to get the scroll function back.

Thanks,
Van
i have the same problem. it just started and i liked the feature. it would be nice if i could get it back.

I would go to this link and select your device and download the driver/software for your device. Try to reinstall the driver/software.

Note:
Fn-F9 is a hot key combination that will enable/disable the touchpad.

In the mouse features window, click the advanced functions button. It gives you about 10 settings to set up for the touchpad.

I want to turn off the scrolling function on the touchpad. The pad is too small for this function and it gets in the way of trying to move the mouse around

Hello,

To disable the scroll function go to mouse properties;click device settings;click settings;expand overview;and you will see the scroll option, that's where you can disable it.

Hope this works.

II. “Highlight”; the item you want to (enable) this being the “Pointer Device.” Click the (Enable) button, just below. Be sure to (Click) on the “Apply” button, and click OK.

The touchpad mouse on my toshiba salellite does not function even though it shows it working properly when you go into the touchpad icon. I have an external wireless mouse (usb) hooked up that works fine...

The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-motherboard-1.htm

Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.

...or have your laptop repaired by a professional.
