this sounds totally silly but is the power button on the vacuum actually off? Had the same problem, where the battery was completely empty i didn't know my son had switched the vacuum on put it on charge and the light was flashing. I took it off the charging stand pressed the power button then put it back....now charging perfectly. Anyone who doesnt have this appliance will think you sound stupid but its just a clicky button so visually the button looks the same on or off.
Actually Hayden's power nozzle is manufacturered by Panasonic for Hayden. Panasonic is the same maker of Kenmore vacuums as well. I have written a detailed repair solution on how to replace the belt on a Kenmore Canister vacuum, and the repair on your power nozzle will be identical.
The only difference could be that you may have a newer style power nozzle then this one, and the screws on the newer nozzles are actually on the bottom of the power nozzle rather then underneath of the headlights.
I have a 6000 and it does the same thing. I simply unplug the unit and plug it back in after cleaning the filter and dumping the cannister. That seems to reset the warning system.
The hose has fuseable link inside, generally a 3-7 amp. It is at the wall end underneath the hose cuff. Easy to replace as it crimps in line. If you have a meter you can also test the detachable hose to wall cord for continuity, then check the hose to handle as well. You can also detach the hose to wall cord from the hose, and plug your power head directly into that cord,, then into the wall thereby eliminating the hose itself. Hayden makes a serviceable hose. If damaged or the fuse blown it can be serviced by a good tech. If the fuse is blown you need to clean and inspect the power head as this may be the cause
Stop using the vac. Remove the filter and clean thoroughly, inspecting for damage. If the vac is spiting out bits off fuzz or lint it may need the motor cleaned and serviced as dirt has leaked past the filter. If it is spewing black, not gray this is carbon dust from the motor brushes. If the noise is scratchy or growling this is a sign of a motor problem as well. The muffler unless it is a hepa filter/muffler combination is NOT designed to catch dust. Exhaust dust is a sign of dust leaking through the motor which indicates future moor problems. HINT, if the guy who installed the muffler didn't secure it right he is probably not a good choice as a service tech either. The muffler is normally clamped or secured in place with a small screw so it can be removed in the event of service.

The Amber light indicating that it needs regular maintenance is on. I have cleaned and serviced the motor, everything is fine and suction is well. How do I reset the service light? The reset button seems to do nothing. Thanks Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I heard of this happening before and you need to refer to the owner’s manual and or to contact the factory or manufacturer of which I will provide to you @ the end of this question. There may be some type of rely switch or board that might need replacing but check with the factory. If you need further help please refer to a local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.haydenvac.com/company/company.html Customer Service 1-800-461-5300 Company Phone # 1-705-726-3361 Company Fax 3 1-705-726-2186 Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead.
