Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

1 Answer

Router doesnt connect to internet

I have a Lynksys WRT54F v4 router that has worked fine for a while.
The router now connects to my pc on wireless and lights are on for the pcs.
However, I cannot connect to internet. The modem connects fine direct to internet.
The internet light on modem front does not come on and when pc connected via modem i cant access internet.
When I try to ping the default address I get a time out error.
When I type config, I dont see a specific router ip address, I just get:
1. IP Address
2. Subnet Mask
3. Default Gateway.
It may be that the ethernet connection ports are just on the fritz.

I have the same problem except my internet light is on at the router but not conecting to the p.c. help please.

try pinging which should be the default gateway of your computer which is the router, unless you changed it. If that ping works try pinging a website such as That will try to help isolate where the problem is at. Try that and please reply back with you results

This sounds like a problem with your DSL modem, not the router. Try unplugging both devices and wait about 10 seconds. Plug in the modem first and wait about 30 seconds (at this point the Internet light should be on). Now plug in the router and wait another 30 seconds. This problem is normally due to the modem not getting sync. I would try plugging your laptop directly into modem if this doesn't work to see if you then have Internet. If not call your ISP.

Please go to your wireless connection settings then click properties then double click TCP/IP v4 and select the DNS and IP address to be given automatically.

Connecting wireless router to laptop computer

Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.
