I cannot get the long bolt in the starter to go in 2007 Impala.

Maybe you can get a helper to hold the starter while you line up the bolts holes? Maybe you can use a alignment tool to line up the starter bolt holes with the holes in engine block, by feel? Sometimes, you might be able to taper the end of the bolt, it may help the bolt to center in the thread hole, you would want the taper to centered. Just my opinion.

How to replace a flywheel on a 2004 dodge durango.

remove the transmission and clutch assemblies
use a impact gun with the correct size socket and undo the flywheel bolts
remember that the flywheel is very heavy so use care when removing the bolts
refitting of the flywheel needs special attention
this is because it only goes back on in one position so that all the bolts will screw in easily
offer it up to the crankshaft and turn it around until ALL the bolt holes line up as the holes are not concentric
this is to ensure that the balance of the flywheel is maintained

How to install balance drive gear on crankshaft 2007 Camry 2.4

Remove old crankshaft pulley ( Harmonic Balancer), by putting sturdy socket, think its 19mm, or 3/4 " on the center crankshaft bolt, with a good size breaker bar, wedge the breaker bar in between the suspension, and drive axle, to keep the breaker bar from spinning, while, you now turn the key inside the car, to engage starter, to spin the crankshaft, which may take several attempts, of turning the key, and putting socket back on, they are very stubborn,to break the center bolt loose,
Then remove harmonic balancer, with a PULLER, which requires 2 bolts, in the threaded holes, one on each side of the now empty center bolt hole, autozone , advance, has these to loan out, only requires deposit, which they give back to you, when you return it.
Put square key in slot on bare crankshaft, slide harmonic balancer,(crankshaft pulley, while lining up the square key,and tighten crankshaft bolt.

I have a 99 old with 3.5 the back head cams aren't getting oil but rest of the motor and took off oil plugs on head no oil when running stumped. But I have an 86 old 3.5 and was wondering if it will bolt...

Check the head gasket if it is original, if not one of the holes on it getting the oil feed from the crank case is blocked or the special bolt with holes holding the bracket of the camshaft was replaced with a ordinary bolt

Torque specs on the 2000 dodge ram 4x4 2500

Please help me. What torque spec. on which of the bolts or nuts. I really don't know until you tell me.. example: Head bolt, exhaust manifold bolts, injector pump. There a way to make sure that you have the correct bolt/nut torque specification. Bolt needs to cleaned with all foreign material removed, also the bolt holes needs to be cleaned out the same as the bolts. Use a thread straightener on the bolt/nut and bolt holes. Once the bolts and nuts and bolts holes are cleaned. Oil the bolt/nut and bolt hole before torquing to specification....GB..stewbison

How do you remove the harmonic balancer on a 1987 GMC R3500 with a 454?

You remove the giant bolt, then you use a harmonic balancer puller, which essentially bolts up rather than using claws to grab. The bolts of the puller go into the pulley fastening bolt holes.

Something must happen to protect the crank threads, a spacer, using the retainer bolt, or whatever, just do not kill the threads.

What special tools to use to remove the starter of john deere tractor model 6400

I took one off yesterday, (the type with two bolts) and managed to get it off with just ordinary spanners. I had to take all the bolts out of the bonnet and side panels, and lift it up about 12" to get a spanner at the bottom bolt! Its awkward, but it can be done!

How do i change the brake pads?

  1. Remove disc brake caliper from mounting bracket and support with a length of wire or remove sleeve bolt and rotate caliper up and out of the way to remove shoes. Do not allow caliper to hang by the brake line unsupported.
  2. Remove outboard shoe and lining. Use a suitable tool to disengage shoe springs from holes in caliper housing.
  3. Remove inboard shoe and lining, unsnapping shoe spring from piston.
  4. If installing new shoe and linings, bottom piston in caliper bore using large pliers. Take care not to damage piston or piston boot.
  5. Remove bushings from mounting bolt holes in bracket. To install:
  6. Install new bushings to mounting bolt holes in bracket. Lubricate bushings with silicone grease before installation.
  7. Install inboard shoe and lining by snapping shoe retainer spring into piston. Shoe retainer spring is already staked to the inboard shoe. Shoe must lay flat against piston.
  8. Install outboard shoe and lining by snapping shoe springs into holes in caliper housing. Wear sensor should be at the trailing edge of shoe during forward wheel rotation. Back of shoe must lay flat against caliper.
  9. Install caliper.
  10. Apply approximately 175 lbs. (778 N) of force 3 times to brake pedal to seat linings.

I need to replace the waterpump assembly

I just replaced the water pump on my 2003 Envoy XL with the 5.3L V8. Spent ALL day doing it! Would have been MUCH easier if I had the special tool that holds the water pump pulley still while you turn the nut for the fan clutch. There are 4 holes in the pulley that have to be pinned (at least 2) with a special wrench. I managed to make something myself using a piece of scrap metal and a couple of 5/16" bolts, but it was a royal pain. Tried three different auto parts stores for tool rental, but they only had tools for pulleys with bolt heads sticking out, not holes in the pulley. has online repair information that was VERY helpful. I didn't have to buy the manual because they had all the info on their site. I also used the forum to get some tips from others that had done it.

Shipping bolt installation

A total of four shipping bolts need to be installed: two longer ones on the bottom and two shorter ones on the top. Each shipping bolt consists of a metal screw inside a plastic cylinder which fits between the washer suspension and the back of the washer cabinet. The metal screw pulls the washer suspension against the plastic cylinder which, in turn, is pulled against the rear cabinet, thereby securing the suspension against the back of the cabinet. The Whirlpool part number is 285955. These bolts can be ordered from various suppliers for $20 - $30. To install these bolts, you will need a 13 mm wrench and a flashlight so you can see where the bolts screw into on the washer suspension.

The procedure is as follows:
1. On the back of the washer, remove the 4 plastic covers over the oblong shipping bolt holes. Carefully pack these covers with the water and drain hoses as they will be needed when the washer is re-installed in its new location.
2. Using the flashlight as a visual aid, look inside the oblong holes and identify the area on the washer suspension into which the shipping bolts screw. It is a white plastic part that is not directly behind the the shipping bolt holes, but is slightly above that level.
3.Look at the shipping bolts. The bolts described above (Part number 285955) have a a plastic arm at one end . This arm must be sawed-off for installation on older machines. You will have to determine whether or not the arm needs to be removed.
4. Starting with the bottom two holes, carefully slide a shipping bolt through the hole toward the front of the machine. Angle the bolt upward toward the screw mating hole, and carefully guide the bolt into the hole. Use the 13 mm wrench to engage the bolt into the mating hole.
5. Make sure that the plastic end of the bolt is closely seated against the back of the washer cabinet. Using the 13 mm wrench, screw in the lower two bolts, but do not tighten at this time.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the upper two shipping bolts.
7. After the plastic part of all 4 bolts has been firmly seated against the back of the washer cabinet, carefully tighten all 4 bolts.
8. Go to the front of the washer and push on the drum. The drum will rotate but it should not rock. If that is the case, then you are done.
