Check the power supply for power. Replace if necessary. Also check the motherboard for proper operation. If no fans come on or only come on for a few seconds then you have a bad motherboard

SOURCE: laptop won't boot

Hi Connie,
This problem usually occurs if you have faulty RAM (memory)module or it may only need to be reseated to make proper electrical connection.

On the bottom of the laptop there are one or two panels, under one of these panels will be the memory module/s, you need to remove the screw/s securing the panel to reveal the memory. The memory modules are secured with spring loaded catches on the sides of the module, apply pressure to the side of the caches to release the memory module, remove and insert it a few times so it will make proper electrical connection.
Reboot youe laptop and if the laptop still does not work then the memory module most likely is faulty and needs to be replaced.

There are two possiblities, first is your data cable it may damage so you need to change it or your data cable not plugged properly so check it. Secondly, you need to reset your boot order to resolve your issue.

Thanks & Best of Luck

Computer does not boot up
The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.
Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

EMachines eMD620 suddenly shutdown and not boot anymore

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.

You can try restarting the computer, As it starts pressf8 continusly, this should open the start up menu, and configuration console. From there you set up your start up order and f9 saves and restarts.

Black screen with cap lights on no boot and no bios

Can you get to safe mode? Usually F8 at boot will let you go to safe mode. It sounds as if it is not getting that far in the boot up. Try removing the hard drive and attempt boot up. If still nothing on screen it may be the motherboard or a power problem.

Do you see the BIOS boot up phase, which is the bit in the beginning of booting the computer where you see DOS like white text on a black background?

If you do, there is a good chance that your problem is as simple as a Windows configuration issue. If not, you may have a short in the wires that connect the screen to the motherboard.

The first thing to try is to connect the computer to an external monitor and see if it will display.

Next, try booting in safe mode.

Then try booting from a CD.

It is possible to replace laptop screens, but it is usually not worth it.

To verify that your laptop is function and the monitor is now. Try plugging your laptop into a regular computer monitor. If the computer turns on and displays an image on the secondary screen, then you'll need to look into having your laptop screen repaired.

This could be either that your screen has failed, or has just become disconnected somehow from the screen to the laptop motherboard on the inside of the unit.

My computer will not boot up Acer 5050 all the lights com on but it never boots the screen stays black. it will not turn off unless you remove the battery.

If you have a VGA cable and a monitor, attempt to plug this into a monitor to verify that the laptop will not boot into your OS (Windows generally). If it does end up booting into your OS, then it sounds like your LCD has died or become unplugged inside the laptop.

I think it has to do with your video cardsettings.I suggest u should get knoppix live cd which is downloadable free from the net.You then try to boot your computer using knoppix cd by changing your boot options to booting from cd.You enter the boot options by pressing down one of the function keys depending on your computer make.If u are able to boot in to knoppix you can access your video card and then resety it.
