Can't get it to picture mode

My camera will show pics I have already taken so I know the screen is still good but won't go into camera mode. I changed the batteries and still have the problem. Fugi S 5200

I have done what I have always done to take pictures. The problem is that now nothing is showing on the screen when I enter that mode, even if I hit the LCD button with usually toggles between the viewfinder and LCD screen. But my pictures will show on the screen in playback mode so something is up with the camera mode. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. Camera was operating fine until last week, tried to take a picture but it will not go onto camera mode. LCD screen working fine can look at previous pics but when try to toggle to red camera screen goes blank.

Hi guys. I have the same problem, but with the fuji s5600. I've read the solution, however it's kind of obvious that we tried turning it to picture taking mode. Is it a firmwire problem? or something worse? My camera doesnt have it's warranty anymore, so that ****.

    Any other solutions?!

    tnx

This camera's playback function works through the lever around the shutter release button. Change it to picture taking mode (the red camera icon).

Trouble dowloading pictures

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

CAnnon Powershot A630 LCD screen will not light up when trying to take a pic. I can, however view old pics that I've already taken.

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to see if that corrects the problem. If not, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

How do i view my pictures from my camera that i have already taken

There should be a setting right on the back of it that allows you to change from Camera mode to Viewing mode. It typically will look like a small screen with a Play button (arrow) on it.

Good luck!

My pictures and screen are blurry...but when i zoom in my pictures come out clear...what can I do myself to fix it?

Your camera is likely set for MACRO, a mode for shooting pictures of things that are very close (close up shots).

For the pics that you have already taken, you might try using The GIMP or Photoshop to "Unblur" the image.

If it won't go into camera mode then maybe the micro switch underneath the swtich is damaged. It's on a small pcb with 2 micro switches for either of the 2 functions. play back and camera

My viewing screen is black when trying to take a picture but when viewing pics I have already taken the screen is fine and show the pics..any idea what is wrong?

You need to go into the setup menu and turn on the display. This is sometimes turned off when you use the optical viewer or in low power modes. Your user manual will show you how to do this step by step.

Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

With the camera in Playback mode (reviewing pictures you have already taken), press the DISP button until the LCD shows what you want -- no information, basic information, or full shooting information.
