Close Caption problem on Sylvania 6419tc

We recently bought a universal remote for our Tv and the close captioning button was accidently hit and now the tv won't do anything. It's stuck on the channel, it's muted, and it has a 2 in each corner. If you press the menu button on the actual Tv itself it will go throught a menu to adjust the brightness and color and contrast and stuff but you adjust it with number codes which is different. We tried calling the company but cannot get through. If anyone can answer this please help we're so confused!

Most flat Panel TV have a menu where you can go to the close caption and disable that function.
If is didabled....and if you have cable or sat TV make sure cable or sat close caption is disabled as well.

How do I turn off spanish closed caption?

the close caption feature is different than the language in the menu.
Try to find the close caption feature in the menu and get it off. Now if she hit a button then chances are you find some button with that description in the remote control (close caption or text) make sure is off.

Closed caption / universal remote

Couple things to try:

On the remote - Press "Clear" button
May have to turn off CC in the TV menus. Try Menu on the remote and look for closed caption there.
If remote doesn't work, can try with buttons on TV itself to get into menu and turn it off.

Here's a link to the manual for that remote:

How to remove black box from screen.....

I think that is the closed caption box. as you look at the front of the tv the ears are for up and down and the face is the menu button. hit the face once the menu will come up . then hit the down button to get to the close caption. then hit the up volume key to enter close caption. from there turn close caption off then hit the face key and that should do it.

Closed Captioned

Assuming whatever your TV receiving from has close caption. (Not all TV channel has close caption) Solution 1) Get a new universal remote that support your model and has close caption button. Once you program in the code for your TV model and it works then all button should also programmed including th close caption button. Solution 2) Search online for the owner manual and read see how to turn it on using buttons on TV (if possible). Solution 3) Get new TV with close caption. (If you have an old old TV with bad and huge pixels then this solution is the best. Your eyes will thank you.)
