Keyboard and now monitor work when they want to

While playing a game my keyboard suddenly froze, not letting me type anything. Now if i restart my computer it might work from anywhere from 1min - 5minutes, then it freezes up again. Also when i restart now, i have to restart several times because my monitor wont turn on.So the monitor works when it wants to and keyboard works fora couple minutes, computer is less then a year old. Any clue on what it could be?Also...below, not sure which keyboard just tried 2 ps/2 keyboards and same problem.

    I tryed using the ram the pc originally came with ( i upgraded about 3months ago to 2gb). Still not working, now my monitor wont even turn on, the pc lights turn on ..the hdd kicks up the dvd drive opens and closes and the keyboard even lights up,but not the monitor. When the monitor WAS turning on..the keyboard would cut off after about 5minutes of use. the lights would stay on but no text or numbers worked.ive tryed cleaning it out, dust etc, replacing ram, 3 diff keyboards including a usb one. searched online for quite a few hours and now im just stuck :(

    note: the monitor not turning on isnt because of my switching ram just now, it wont turn on now even with the ram ive had in for a while. :(

In add/remove
uninstall any programs you no longer need
then do a disk defrag and see if that helps
The game was always played on vista
let me know

The keyboard and touchpad suddenly froze up and I could not do anything with my computer except shut it off.

Hi joshandaye ,

The keyboard and the touch pad would have frozed because of the sytem being hung up.

In this case , a restart suffices and after you do that , it's best to have a scan of the hard disk for errors.

You can do this via the scandisk option from your computer, once you do a full scan, notice the difference between the system's performance before and after scan , you should find a significan difference and your system would not hung up usually.

Hope this works for you, in case you have any queries, let me know.

The keyboard completely stopped working. Unable to type at all...any suggestions? I have disconnected and reconnected the keyboard and restarted the computer.

Turn off the computer, disconnect and reconnect the keyboard, restart your computer. If that does not work, try a different keyboard. If that still does not work than try a usb keyboard instead of a ps/2 keyboard or vice-vers. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

try reinstalling the drivers. initially though, press the connect button on the usb dongle. then press the connect button on the mouse and then on the keyboard. if anything this should let you connect the mouse to let you install the drivers. the drivers will then automatically install.

Sounds like it might be a power supply issue. Unless it is mains powered.

Try removing all other USB devised. If that doesn't work its worth try a Mains Powered USB hub.
