I used this forum to adjust the blue on my Sony KP-57WS500 last year - thanks everyone! I began to have the same problem again recently. But this time I believe that there can be no more adjusting. At first, I had the same symptoms as last year; the blue hue on the screen, then the tv shuts off. Then suddenly, I got a blue hue and a flicker but the tv did not shut down - all the functions on the tv work properly but now there is no blue in the screen at all. With the front grill off and the panel removed from the tv, I can look up and see what looks like three projection tubes. The red and green tubes are on but the blue one does not do anything even when I turn the adjustment pot. I know that something probably needs to be replaced but I have no idea how to narrow it down. Any ideas?

I had this problem and at the same time I was getting blue tint. When the blue got darker, this would happen, Adjusted the voltage on the guns (3 screws in the front - lower panel off) and the blue went away and it stopped turning off. But later, it would start all over again. Same procedure, same fix.
Do either the red or the green crts come up at all?? If not the heaters in the blue crt could be bad - loading down the HV and the shutdown circuit turns the set off.. Only repair for that is to replace the blue crt, but I would have it tested first.. In the shop here we use a B&K467 to test for shorts and emission leaks but that's old school.. B&K has since come out with far superior crt tester/rejuvenators..
