Might be the ducting fuse located on the blowers housing has blown because of some kind of lint issue. LOCATION

How do I check for power to my dryer

You could plug something else, like a lamp, in the wall outlet and see if that gets power.
If the dryer requires a phase connection, that would be harder to test. Then you would need a volt meter to test the power outlet for proper voltage. That's a little dangerous though, unless you have some experience with power line testing.
Hope this helps.

I have a whirlpool dryer model #LER5636EQ3 which the power cord was missing upon aquiring it, the wall socket in my laundry room is a 50amp, so I need to know if a 50amp power cord would be a proper...

The recommended power cord is a 30 amp 3- or 4- wire cable. A 50 A cord could cause a problem by allowing a surge to the dryer motor and damage the dryer or start a fire. There are 30A to 50A adapters (see RV and boat supply vendors). The installation instructions for the LER5636EQ3 are available here: https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Installation%20Instructions%20-%203397618.pdf . See page 5 of the PDF.

Note: the 50A outlet has a 50A circuit breaker protecting it. If you swap the outlet to a 30A outlet, you will also need to replace the breaker with a 30A one.

I hope this helps.

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

JUST HAS NO POWER. OUTLET IS LIVE. DRYER IS COMPLETELY DEAD.

the wiring diagram for you dryer will be in one of two places either in the control panel up top or just inside the top of the dryer. and yes there is a thermal fuse if you pull it out from the wall and pull the back plate off you will see it. it is about 1/4" wide and about 1.5" long usually is white.

Dryer wont start - no lights

Dryer door does not think it is closed. There is a sensor on the top of the door that is probably not making contact with the door. Trying pushing the top part of the door and holding it then press the start button.. if the unit starts running then you know what it is. I just had one of these dryers delivered today and had to find out about this by myself tonight!!

Dryer will not heat and will not turn off at the end of the cycle

I had the same problem with my whirlpool LER5636. It was a power problem. My circuit breaker was fried (one side delivered 120v the other 26v). The dryer itself was fine. Check the breaker, the dryer outlet, and the connections where the dryer cord enters the dryer.
I replaced the breaker and all was well.
Good Luck.
