Yes when in use. It seems to do it more often if not on ac power. After it turns itself off, it will turn off at startup several times before it will start up completely. It seems to power off when the cpu fan starts.

Your best hope is that the CPU heatsink is dusty and the CPU is overheating and therefore shutting of for thermal protection.
Try to clean it deeply with canned air caring not to short the fan speed sensing with the condense caused by the expanding air(do not hold the nozzle too close to the fan).
If it keeps doing it, then it's probably because of the motherboard's voltage regulator and you need to replace the motherboard or at least the voltage regulator if it is not on-board(usually it is onboard.)

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

Dell pc turns off sometimes for no reason

If the systems overheats, then the pc turns itself off to prevent damage.

Your computer needs to be kept cool. Clean the fans and install more fans if possible.

Take care!

HP Pavilion zv5000 Turns off every 10 mins and restarts itself?

When the computer is on try using that computer cleaner compressed air that comes in the can on the fan that is not working. If you hit it with the compressed air and get the fan to spin and then it starts to spin on it's own the fan could be sticking. This will cause overheating and the computer could shut down like it's doing. Also does it do it when the battery is on or a/c power or both?

Could also be a virus, some viruses shut the computer down. Try downloading avg free edition from http://free.avg.com
Otherwise you have to take it apart to check the fan etc

Condenser fan running backwards on heat pump

I am having the same problem, sometimes it runs in the wrong direction, blowing the air down. Sometimes something gets tripped and I need to turn the thermostat to off and wait a bit then restart it. If I am lucky it will run int the correct direction and also will warm the house. Sometimes it send nothing but cold air to the house's forced air.

this problem is due overheating, and you say yo have a C2D with this mobo.... at intel site it said that this mobo works fine with intel P4, Pentium Duo an Celeron but not C2D. Its true that you have 800Mhz FSB and it will detect the micropro.... and work fine but the C2D will overheat the mobo for its need of energy and overheat it so it start restarting. I dont know how much that mobo is going to last but start installing all cooler you can....the mission is to cool down that mobo and micro...

Lenovo laptop shutdown suddenly after working for a while

Hi James, replace the fan or If it's still under warranty have it serviced. Suggest you stop turning it on until the fan is replaced. It could be the fan cooling the CPU. You don't want it to fry.
The shut down process is normal when over heating is detected by the system.
