Ethernet Controller Compaq Evo D310m Intel Pro 100 VE

The Intel Pro 100 VE network adapter is recognized fine, but the 'Ethernet Controller' still comes up with a yellow "!" next to it under "Other Devices" in Device Manager and none of the drivers I've tried at the Intel download site are working. I've downloaded all the compatible XP drivers for Intel PRO 100 VE Network connections and still no luck. Very frustrated and at my wit's end. Help anyone?

Hello, thanks for replying, it is a Compaq Evo D310m and it is a tower. I cannot scan my computer using Windows Update seeing as my problem involves the ethernet controller, which means I have no internet. I've tried downloading all the drivers I could think of from both the Intel and HP sites that are applicable to my machine. Anyone have any more ideas/suggestions?

Hello, thanks for the replies. My machine is a Compaq Evo D310m and it is a tower. Seeing as my problem has to do with the ethernet controller, I cannot connect to the internet to try Microsoft Update. I also went and downloaded all the drivers I could think of that possibly relate to my machine and issue from the Intel and HP sites with no luck. Any more ideas/suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated :)

Does the little <!> say device could not start or does it say not enough resources or driver not loaded???
if and i am just guessing here you have maxed out your ram, and have several pci cards in there as well you can have something like this happen where some items lose their ability to function because you have filled all the address's the computers motherboard has, however since the network controller is still under other devices i doubt this is the case.... try this driver

I lost my lan driver

The Dell E210882 motherboard has been used in the Dell Dimension 3000. Thus you can try the Dell site for the XP driver. Start here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/dimension-3000 and expand the section for network drivers.

If you have a different OS, try the Intel site since the onboard LAN is the Intel Pro/100 VE hardware. The Intel generic drivers are here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Network+Connectivity&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Adapters&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+PRO%2f100+VE+Desktop+Adapter . Use the drop-down menus to select your OS and drivers if you want to shrink the list below (left-hand side).

If the on-board LAN has failed (it happens), get a PCI ethernet card. Then disable the on-board LAN in the BIOS. Usually that can be accessed by pressing Esc, F1, F2 or F10 on startup. There should be a splash screen telling you which key to press. If you get to the Windows login or Start Screen try again.

I hope this helps.

    Network Card

Yes the network card is the same ethernet card. If your intel pro/100 is onboard try to re install the driver from the motherboard drvier. Check also in the manager device it the network device have a complex to the other device. Follow this, Click START then RUN type DEVMMGMT.MSC then enter check if the network adapter have a yellow question mark. If you found the network adapter right click and uninstall it.and click the ACTION and click SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. After the installation finished try to connect to the internet. If still the same even you input the correct ip in the network configuration. Buy a new LAN card it's not expensive, because usually the onboard lan is easy to damage or not working properly you can installed and configured it but you cannot connect to the internet.

Was it onboard graphics you had before? If so there is a setting in the bios that you need to change to get it to run from the agp slot.

    Hope that helps?

Best bet would be to hit up ebay for this and look on there for spare parts.

Just take what you posted in the title and hit ebay.

Note: prices may vary and if you bid be sure you are getting a working board.
