Need house & home dehydrator manual

Hello, Vickie -

Do you know the model of your House & Home Food Dehydrator?

Apparently the House & Home Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator is the same as the Magic Chef Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator. Also, I have seen information indicating the model LD-1010 is the same as (or very close to) model 469-1. Perhaps yours is a a model LD-1010

I have not yet found a PDF version (electronic, Adobe Acrobat Reader software) of an instruction manual for a House & Home food dehydrator or a Magic Chef food dehydrator, any model.

However, I have found directions (not the full manual) for using a Magic Chef food dehydrator here:
https://www.leaf.tv/articles/instructions-on-using-a-magic-chef-food-dehydrator/

I have found manuals for other similar food dehydrators (PDF documents), which may prove instructive:
http://pdf.lowes.com/operatingguides/1000317095_oper.pdf
and:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/107232/Mr-Coffee-Fd5.html

Note: I also found a 1997 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for a K-Tel Model LD-1010 food dehydrator:
https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/1997/cpsc-k-tel-international-usa-inc-announce-recall-to-replace-food-dehydrators

I have not been able to determine if the K-Tel product was manufactured by the same company which made the House & Home LD-1010 Food Dehydrator or the Magic Chef Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator. However, I recommend you read the full recall notice and be watchful for any overheating when you use the dehydrator.

Note: If you eventually choose to dispose of the dehydrator, please do not toss it in the trash. Instead, make sure you send it to electronics recycling in your area.

Best wishes.

What is Food Dehydration all About

Food dehydration is a very long standing way of preserving food. In modern times, food dehydration machines have been developed, allowing people to dehydrate their food at home.
Dehydrators work by removing the moisture from food thus allowing them to last for much longer.

Because the water is removed at a very low temperature, the nutrients and enzymens of the food are not destroyed and that's why dehydrated food is seen as part of the healthy food movement.

How do you use a food dehydrator?
1. Wash and dry the foods you want to dehydrate
2. Arrange the slices on trays. Try and avoid overlapping.
3. Set the temperature using the guide. Generally the lower the temperature the greater the preservation of vitamins and nutrients.
4. Keep an eye on the trays, turning them in the dehydrator.
5. It can take anything from a couple of hours up to a day to dehydrate food, depending on the moisture levels.
6. When the food is ready store it in airtight plastic bags or containers.

Enjoy experimenting with your food dehydrator. It's fun for kids as well and is a great way of preserving fruit and vegetables when you've overbought or can see food would otherwise go to waste.

What is a Food Dehydrator Used For?

Not a lot of people have heard of food
dehydrators before – but there is a growing trend amongst health fans to use
food dehydrators as a major tool in their goal in pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

What is a food dehydrator?
It’s basically a machine that can
dehydrate fresh food using a fan and low temperatures. It removes the water
from food but manages to maintain the enzyme levels, so for it’s a good tool
for those wanting to follow a raw food diet.

Is it only good for raw food diets?
Whilst a food hydrator is good for raw food diet buffs, it can also be used by
anyone wanting to make healthy snacks at home without having to pay the high
prices charges in health shops.

What kind of snacks can you make in a
food dehydrator?

You can make fruit rolls, or your own
trail mix. You can dehydrate fruit and vegetables when you have an excess and
they would otherwise get ruined and even make your own beef jerky!

In my opinion, food dehydrators are not just a gimmick, but for those who take
their healthy diets seriously, it’s a great tool.

My North Bay Food Dehydrator has vents on top & bottom. I need the settings for dehydrating Hot Peppers. Can you tell me where to find the settings?

You will need to experiment with the settings on your individual machine to know which setting achieves what temperature, but when you do the attached photo will give you a good range of temperatures for each type of food i.e. Meat/Fruit/herbs/etc 1_4_2014_3_42_47_pm.png

I would like to find a users manual - with recipes - for a Hamilton Beach food dehydrator

To my knowledge Hamilton Beach does not make a Food Dehydrator. Please double-check the brand.
In the meantime, here are links to some sites with dehydration instructions and recipes.
http://www.canningpantry.com/dehydration-of-food.html
http://www.everythingkitchens.com/dehydratorrecipes.html

Since your post is under the heading for the Prepstar Food Processor, I feel the need to provide the link for that user manual (just in case). The pdf user manual with recipes for the Prepstar 70550 Food Processor is at the followig site: http://useandcares.hamiltonbeach.com/files/840075900.pdf

Let me know if you need anything else. Good Luck!
