the image on my monitor was shaky, so I rebooted the machine. Now it is just showing a big E on the screen, and two messages: boot menu , and below this BIOS settings <2>

I have tried pushing both, but nothing is happening

i have read some reviews on your monitor
So the ex-hubby calls me with his woes - his eMachines T3124 is having problems. Seems that when he cold boots in the morning it hits the "E" splash screen and then just goes to black screen. No bios boot screen, no boot to windows. Everything sounds ok though. After a few restarts it boots ok. So, first trouble shoot is to replace the 180w Bestec power supply with a salvaged 300w Hippro from my T6420 (which was replaced with a 500w) - the one I replaced the mobo on. Works great ... for one night. Next morning I get the frantic call - now he gets nothing after the "E" splash but white wavy lines, but the computer sounds like it's running fine. Ok - ok ... think, think. First thought was maybe the onboard graphics have gone, next thought maybe the mobo is going ....

What is the next thing we do after trying a known, good power supply? Try another working montior. I had him try using a trusty older CRT monitor and Wha-Lah! After less than 3 years the E17T4 LCD monitor had failed. Most recent crisis handled. This little incident has made him realize though that he needs to burn all his picture and videos to CD. Scared him to think he could have lost them. Today's reminder? BURN your pictures and videos now! You never known when something might happen. And eMachines monitors are ****.

hope this helps

Monitor blue light comes on shows emachines logo and color bars then monitor turns off and light turns yellow

your monitor is beleiving it is not receiving any signal from your pc. 1 make sure your cables are secure. 2 make sure your pc is on. 3 borrow a monitor from a freind to see if your pc is sending the signal out, if the borrowewed monitor is showing a picture, hook yours back up. 4 if still not picture your mpcb or video pcb in the monitor is bad.

Try it with a different computer and see if it comes on. If it does, the video card is bad on the other computer. If not , your monitor may need to looked at.

Emachine Monitor comes on a few minutes and cuts back off

I have the same problem and I think its the circuit board on the power on button and blue led. I unplug the board when the monitor is on and then the monitor stays on and works OK.
It don't make any sence it is only 3 parts switch led connector
anybody else run into the problem

Emachine T2672 will not recognize monitor

First, check to see if the computer is actually running--look for the lights on the front and listen for the fan (also, put your hand behind the machine to see if you feel air coming out). Once you determine that the computer is actually running, look at the monitor. Is it on? Is there a green or yellow light? If not, be absolutely sure it's plugged in both to the monitor and to the computer and the power source.
If you have a yellow light and the computer is running, it might be the video card. If there is not yellow or green light, the monitor is bad.
Find a friend who has a monitor and borrow it. Plug it into your system and see if it works. If so, the problem is your monitor. If not, then the problem lies in the computer.

Are you hearing the fan running or seeing any lights on the system box or keyboard?
If it is not showing any signs of life, the main power supply has failed; these are built as poorly as anything in your PC and one of the most frequent failures. The fact that it was taking longer each time was an indication that the supply was dying. If your find this to be true, you can buy a replacement supply on eBay for < $20 US and DIY. The supply you need will likely be an ATX standard and before you buy one, you should have yours in hand to compare the connector complement since there can be differences.
On opening the case of the system box, touch some bare metal of the chassis to discharge any static charge you may have from carpeting or clothing.
Removing the supply should be easy; there are four screws holding the supply to the back of the system box (this is where the rear fan is located which is part of it) and a dozen or so connectors going to the drives and main board. Remove the connectors first. Be careful removing the main board plugs as you don't want to stress the board too much; they have hundreds of fine traces on them that can be broken if stressed the wrong way.
When reinstalling the replacement, note that there are a number of identical plugs and they are totally interchangeable and you will likely have several left over that are not needed unless you add a number of drives or other add-on cards.
