Try first replacing the cables (if you use RCA replace audio cable, if HDMI test different cable).

If this is not a cable or setting problem , than it is an internal fault, probably a faulty audio circuit inside the TV.

In this case contact the number listed on the user manual or a local repair shop to get the unit fixed.

Actually there's one setting, I'm not sure that you have try this or not. It's under set up menu (not sound setting menu) check speaker setting (it's must be On). If this one already ON but still no sound, please contact service center.

or

It depends of the type of cable you have. If it is just regular cable connet the coaxial cable to you tv and the sound is carried with it. If it is digital from a settop box you'll need to hook up sound form the settop box. You can use the L and R RCA cable or the digital coaxial cable if you have go a 5.1 channel reciver. If it is HDTV settop box, its the same story as for digital. Do you get sound with you dvd player, then your tv is not the problem and its just you not knowing how to connect the cables. For starter, I would reccomend that you connect the R and L audio from your settop box to your tv. Remember to connect the video and the audio to the correct input and put the tv in the correct input by using the remote.

Good luck!

❑ Set Speaker to On in the Setup settings. If it is set to Off, sound is
not output from the TV’s speakers regardless of the TV’s volume control.

If your media is encoded with sound formats that are not recognized by your player or AV receiver, this may result in no sound at all. Make sure that your hardware devices are compatible with the sound format you want to playback.

Hello Wybos1,

There are many reasons why sound would not be present on your HDTV. One is if you are using and HDMI cable for the picture and other connections for the sound. HDMI cables are able to transfer both the picture and the sound through one handy cable, but sadly some receivers that are out dated are unable to send the sound through that cable and require audio cables.

Recievers that use a DMI connection with an adapter of sorts, are the ones I am talking about.

Though the audio cables plus a HDMI work on some TVs, yours is not one of them.

Your TV requires either the use of just HDMI with out audio coming in from another jack, or the use of all jacks without HDMI.

Do not think your TV is bad, because most likley if you are using your HDMI, it will be your reciever that is the issue.

Now if you are using a direct coaxial cable (Just regular TV cable) There is a problem with the TV itself.

I hope that I have helped you with your issue today, and please take the time to rate my solution. If you have any questions feel free to post them before rating my solution so that I may give you the most assistance I can.

Shadowmaru.

Hi!

Are you using a DAO(digital audio out cable)? Also try and tune your TV on a diffrent video channel. If using HDMI, please check for the pins of the HDMI connector, are they bent or broken?

Please ask for any clarifications

Thanks

If all cables are fine and settings are also perfect then check for loose connections on the circuit board and also with the speakers. But, before doing that plug in external speakers and see if sound is coming from them, if yes then internal speakers are bad and if no sound from external speakers aswell then the sound circuitry has gone bad.

You should have a setting in the menu for sound options, make sure the tv speakers "on" is checked/highlighted. If you have all settings and cables set correctly your tv should have sound. If you still do not have sound then there might be a problem with the sound card outputs on the television.

go to menu, sound settings, find or look to see if you have a "speakers on" setting and select it. If not there may be bad or loose speaker wire or worst case senario is the sound board fried. But first, do what I very first suggested.

The volume could be low or muted. check by using the remote. Also check the cables behind the tv and that sound cables or cable is connected properly, check the menu and make sure sound is not muted and corrent source is in use.

is the sound source outside the tv? I mean can you move the device to another tv to test if you get sound out from it.

if you get sound from the source at another tv, assuming its a external dvd player for example. the problem is on your tv, as you have no sound at all, does this include all sources? The speakers may not be functioning.

if you don't get sound from the device at another tv then the issue might be on the device and not on your tv, try another device on the tv and see if you get sound.

I suppose the internal tuner is not giving any sound either?

This information comes from the online reference book: Using the Sound Menu

Use the remote to open the TV menu. Select the Sound menu, and the "speakers" decision. From the two choices, "TV Speakers" tells the tv to use its built-in speakers. "Audio System" tells the TV to use an external audio system, and disables the internal speakers. Select "Audio System," and check to see if it works. If it still hasn't recognized that there is an external audio system plugged in, you may need to clean the stereo mini jack (3mm audio jack) with a small wooden toothpick or similar small diameter non-conducting device.

Connecting tv external speakers

If you connected R/W RCA cables to the AUDIO OUT RCA jacks on the rear of the TV and connected the other ends to the TV AUDIO IN jacks on the receiver, you should be able to select an input on the receiver that will deliver sound to the Bose speakers. If you went to TV setup and selected external speakers, you directed output from the TV amplifier to external speakers which is not what you want.

I have a sony bravia KDL-32L4000 LCD TV and the sound has gone

For anything you plug in or just certain things? Before the sound stopped, did you change the sound output to something different? Do you have external speakers plugged in?

If the built-in speakers on the tv are not working, plug the television into a set of external speakers, select the output in the menu accordingly and test them. If they work, might be the speakers are blown or the menu configuration is wrong.

Always check the simplest things first, then work your way up to the harder/more expensive issues.

Rule out speakers, speaker board, connectors, external speakers, components attached to television, etc.

No sound from the audio speakers

by audio speakers i assume you mean speakers that you plug INTO the tv, some tv's if you plug in speakers they play instantly but some tv's you might have to go under the menu ON the tv so just bring up menu, click on audio, and it should say some where to swith to external speakers then while with speakers pluged in select external speaker (or whatever your tv might say) and i hope that solves your problem, thank you, jamie.

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia television

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.
