Question about Car Audio & Video

7 Answers

Hi trying i have connected alpine 7871E to alpine fv340 amp. The radio works fine, but when the cd is used the power to the amp is disconnected - so no sound from the speakers. Is there a switch in the head unit that needs to be operated to get the cd sound signal to flow to the amp? Can the cd signal be bypassed any other way? Or is this cd headunit not suitable for connection to a separate amp?

Recheck your wiring, it sounds like you may have had a connector come loose from behind the head unit.

Hi!

Please hook up the remote wire and the power antenna wire to the blue factory amp wire. This will let you hear the sound when cd is played.

Thanks

After the above step is performed, then remove the detachable front panel. Behind the front panel, to the right of the connector, there is a small hole.

Using a ball-point pen or other pointed object, press the RESET switch mounted behind this hole.

This will reset your system and you will be able to haer the sound again from cd.

If you have your blue remote wire connected and it turns off still, then you can run it to a switch off the fuse block to the remote turn on to the amp, but connect it to a spot the works only when the ignition is on.

There is no switch like you says. It seems there is some short connection between cd and radio amplifier.
Check that using a bypass wire from cd to amp.

Alpine CDE-9845, no audio from cd's either normal or mp3. Tuner works fine. Where to troubleshoot?

You have the wrong blue wire connected.
Your power antenna wire is hooked to the amp remote wire and vice versa.
Your radio thinks the tuner is off - and is dropping the signal thru the power antenna wire - and turning off your amplifer.
Switch the 2 blue wires in your install - and you'll be all set.

I put a cd in and it will show what track the cd is on but does not play the cd the radio works just fine

sounds like you are running through an amp. if you are, you may have the amp remote turn on connected the the power antenna lead instead of the amp remote turn on lead. this should be a blue with a white stripe wire.

Alpine cda 9884 has no sound in cd or ipod mode

actually, chrysler/dodge has factory Infinity sound systems installed. The nice part about these systems is that you dont have to bypass the amplifiers in order to put a new radio in, but simply power up the amp by hooking up the amp turn on wire at the harness. The alpine should have 2 blue wires coming off of the back, one that is solid, the other with a white stripe. The one that is solid only has 12v when the fm/am radio is on (used for power antenna) but cuts off when other sources are used (cd,aux, ipod). My guesses are, you have the amp wire on the vehicle harness (blue) tied into this wire, instead of the BLUE/WHITE wire on the alpine which has 12v as long as the radio is on. i hope this solves your problem, 9 times out of 10 on a chrysler this is it.

CDs and Ipod wont play with Alpine CDA-9885

The Alpine has two tigger wires when it turns on. One is an AMP TURN ON wire (blue/white) and a PWR ANT wire (blue) and that wire only comes on when using the radio or an optional HD radio unit ... When it was installed/connected . someone hooked your amp turn on wires for your "full range amps" to the PWR ANT wire. And the sub amp trigger is either hooked correctly to the AMP TURN ON WIRE or somewhere else, it probably shouldn't be... Check it. Amp triggers should all be to the blue/white wire from your alpine. Warning: Alpine trigger wires, are very easy to mess up they supply a very limited amount of power.

Radio has sound but not the CD player or iPod

Your amp is not turning on - what you should do is connect the "blue/white - remote turn-on lead" to whatever wire you have the "blue - power antenna" output from the Alpine connected to now. That should solve your problem.

Radio sound but NO cd or ipod sound

Radio is screwed.

But try these these steps:

Clean the eye of the head for reading CD. Must open up the radio.

IPod: check for good connections from Ipod to PCB.

Alpine 9881 cd will not play sound

If you had to connect the remote amp turn on lead from the headunit to the factory amp turn on lead you may find your problem there.

On many headunits there are 2 blue remote wires 1 for antenna and one for amp turn on. The antenna remote only supplies power when the radio is playing not when playing CD's. If you hooked the antenna wire to the amp trigger then the amps shut down when you play a cd. If that's not it let me know and I will research further.

Cut out Alpine 9855

When you say you connected the blue and white wire to the amp power do you mean the remote turn on of the amp and not the terminal/wire marked battery or power? You should not be trying to power your amp with the blue and white wire. This wire is only for sending a signal(+12V) to the amp to turn itself on. the amp should have it own fused wire of appropriate gauge running directly to the batttery. Some more details on the installation would be helpful.
