My Acer Iconcia ' A1 will not come on at all.

Possibly the ribbon cable that goes to the screen came lose from the main circuit board. I suggest you find a YouTube video on disassembling your tablet and watch it. Where the ribbon cable attaches to the board, there will be a fastener that holds it in place that either slides out or flips up. It won't look like there's any sort of fastener there so make sure you watch the video that shows how it works.
In the video I've linked, one could get the impression that how you unfasten the ribbon cable latch is up to the user (slide it or flip it up) but it's not your option. It depends on the design of the connector.

Display problem with screen

I believe there is a flat ribbon cable on most laptops that connect the screen to the motherboard's video out. It is possible you could perform partial disassembly to see if that ribbon has worked loose. It's also possible that it is subject to flex when the ****-shell opens and the wiring is damaged. This site looked like it might have some clues as how to disassemble your lappy - best of luck!

Does Pioneer still offer FREE replacement screen ribbon cables??

Yes they will replace the ribbon cable for free for only one time. but if you did the bypass mod they will unmod it and charge you $200 for doing it. In that case you better of send it to that guy Rich with Same Day Audio Service on Ebay, he will fix it with his company manufactured milspec ribbon cable for I think $85. His cables are much higher quality than Pioneer's and come with a free lifetime warrantee if you have it perform by him or you can purchase the cable from him and put it in by yourself but he won't guarantee it if you do. It not very hard to do if you are a little bit technical incline. I bought a few cables and replaced them myself with the Ribbon Cable Exhausted Tutor Guide on AVIC411.com, but I have figured out a much easier way to do it. Let me know if you need help. Goodluck to you.

Changing ribbon

you will need to disassemble the phone top and bottom to get to the ribbon cable that attaches the lcd screen to the main board. I would not recommend it unless you have attempted a similar repair. You can easily ruin the phone.

No Display

First make sure everything else is getting power and operating okay, and that it is only the LCD display that is non-functional.

If you get no video signal or power at all, even at boot time, you probably have a dislodged ribbon cabling or power connection. Usually when LCD monitors go bad they show colour banding or all white, etc., but usually continue getting power.

As a last resort, try disassembling the lower case (with the power disconnected and the battery out of course) to expose the LCD monitor mounts, and then following the wiring from the screen into the laptop and check for anything loose or disconnected. You could also have a loose ribbon cable going into the LCD array, which will require disassembling the LCD cowling and mounts.

If you are handy and comfortable with electrics and find nothing loose, put the battery in and test the power line going to the LCD backlight, which should be getting above 7V (I think). Below that and you either have a bad video controller or bad wiring/solder joints somewhere. Otherwise, if the unit has been dropped or had a hard life generally, it could also be the connections between the LCD connector bus on the monitor array and the array itself. As a last resort, try unplugging and reconnecting all ribbon and connector cables, cleaning the exposed brass coloured runners lightly with rubbing acohol or even a pencil eraser.

Good luck...

Video Capture Problem

Sounds like your imaging block is bad or a ribbon cable came loose. You can get the service manual for $24.00 US at http://www.servicemanuals.net You will need a good jewelers screwdriver set, magnifying glasses, a steady hands and a whole lot of patience. Make lots of notes as you disassemble the unit if you ever want to get it back together. After you get it apart check for any loose or disconnected ribbon cables, especially in the area of the CCD block which is the front of the unit behind the lense. Good luck and let us know how you make out or if you need any more help.
