The player turns on, searches for a disc, but will not open. Once the disc is in, it does work, but I can't get it to open to be able to insert a disc. The display window says "reading" then "no disc" and that's it.
THERE IS AN EMERGENCY OPEN OPTION ON MOST ALL DISK DRIVES, LOOK RIGHT BELOW THE DRAWER USUALLY TO THE RIGHT FOR A SMALL PINHOLE. GET A PAPER CLIP AND STRAIGHTEN ONE END OUT, INSERT STRAIGHT INTO HOLE UINTIL YOU FEEL IT STOP AT THE MANUAL RELEASE CATCH AND GENTLY PRESS UNTIL YOU HEAR THE DRAWER BEGIN TO OPEN. BLOW ANY DUST OUT, AND CHECK THE PC AND DRIVE WEBSITE FOR A POSSIBLE FLASH UPDATE FOR YOUR DRIVE MODEL. THEY ARE OFTEN POSTED WHEN DRIVES SHOW PROBLEMS READING SOME OF THE NEWER DISK BEING MADE. THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST.

Normally on the drawer that you use to put in the CD there is a very tiny hole, look closely for it. Take a paperclip and straighten it out, insert it into the hole and push. This should help open the door. You might have to pull the drawer out the rest of the way but you should be able to get it out.
We repaired this problem by taking the advice of another member of FixYa! The component had recently been packed to be shipped. After unpacking the unit when we powered up the read out only displayed "LOADING" and the CD changer door would not open. We removed the exterior cover and gently moved the CD changer one position. When it locked back into position we powered up and the unit works fine now. FixYa sure help me save perhaps a $100. or more by not sending it to the manufacturer or another shop. And it was working within minutes so we could enjoy using it right away. Thanks guys I very much will recommend this sevice to others... this was the 2nd problem we fixed that day by logging onto FixYa!!!
Pioneer DVD player (DV-505, DV-525, DV-606, etc.)
Note: Some codes work on LD/DVD combo players only, such as "Disc side A/B".
Note: The LD/DVD 0525 code will work too, but the arrow keys (among other things)
won't work without being keymoved to the correct codes.

Solution: Unplug power from wall. (Don't just turn off!) Next: Remove exterior case. Now gently turn the CD changer clockwise one position. Power up and try again.
I had this same problem after unit appeared to have froze up when unpacked from a shipping box. The CD changer had got off track and by gently moving the CD changer 1 position it fixed the problem. Works fine now.
I have a similar issue with my DV-605 as well. When the unit power on, I can hear the motor trying to start, but the DVD does not spin. Being the adventurous type, I opened the case and turned the DVD drive motor a few revolutions by hand and then the dvd played. I think I need a new DVD drive motor. You may as well....
