Question about RCA 27V520T 27" TV

1 Answer

Not working I have a 32" and all of a sudden it just stopped working in the CATV mode. The screen remains blue and I get absolutely no channels. Any recommendations on how to fix?

I get what your saying, but when I put a different tv on the same cable and plug it in, it works just fine. could it be a problem inside the tv? Or is there a possible simple solution that I could try before I have to go spend money to have it looked at?

Hello.

Blue screen usally means no signal.

This sounds like a cable/cord cennection problem.
If you are using a scart cable between the tv and the cable box
make sure the contacts are firmly inserted all the way,
Sometimes scart contacts are hard to get all the way in.

Howerver if you are receiving the CATV channels the sdame way as the rest of the channels, through an RF cord (antenna cable)
there could be a problem with your supplier of these channels

Best of Luck

Im sorry to hear that the problem is beyond the "easy fix" stage.

I gather you are using a 3 split AV cable (red, white and yellow) which only works in "Composite mode" however if you are using a scart cable you should have 2 catv modes in which it should work..Compisite mode and also RGB mode,,, have you tried both ?

If you cant switch over to these modes on the remote aswell as on the TV direct then im afraid next step would be to have a repair man have a look at some service shop since you are right that it would be probably be the channel or input circuitry inside the TV that is broken.

Also you can leave the question open here..someone might have a better answer for you.

    Thank you.

HOW DO YOU GET CHANNELS REPROGRAMED INTO THE TV?

Hello

Auto presetting channels you wish to know I thinks, if so do the following.

To preset a channel or to change a preset channel, follow the procedure below.

1) Press the POWER button to turn on the TV.

2) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears

on the TV screen.

3) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "CHANNEL SET".

Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.

4) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "AUTO PRESET CH".

Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.

The tuner scans and memorizes all active channels in your area.

? The TV distinguishes between standard TV channels and cable (CATV)

channels.

? When AUTO PRESET CH action is completed, the lowest memorized

channel reappears on the screen.

? When you press the CH(annel) ? or ? button after selecting "AUTO PRESET CH",

the tuner will stop at the memorized channels only.

? The TV may recognize TV channels to be CATV channels by receiving conditions. In this case,

try AUTO PRESET CH action again in the fine receiving conditions.

? When AUTO PRESET CH is activated where there is no TV signal input, "NO TV SIGNALS"
will appear on the display after the completion of channel scanning.
OK.

Can't change TV to CATV mode

You must unplug the cable connecting the television and the cable box. Then turn the television off and then back on. Do not turn the cable box off or disconnect the cable in wire from the cable box especially if you use Cable Vision. It will take up to 20 minutes before the box comes back on. Now turn the television back on. When you access the Channel System menu, you have the access to the submenu choices. Change the Antenna option to CATV and the Current Channel to 3. Reconnect the cable box to the TV.

Also those that are having problems with the TV turning off periodically, make sure the sleep mode option does not have a number in it. For example, if the number is 10, it will turn off every 10 minutes.

I can't program channels above 13

Check your TV settings and be sure to set the tuning mode to cable (sometimes it says CATV). You will find it's set to "air" now. When set for off-the-air tuning, cable channels 2 through 13 work fine, but above that you get nothing. After you set your tuning mode to cable, rescan channels and ou should have everything.

Big black box in the middle of the screen

The black box is there because your closed captioning is on and set to text mode. Some channels send the signal even when there is no actual text to display. You can get rid of it by either turning off closed captioning or changing it to CC1 or CC2 mode instead of text. If you can't find those settings, then restore factory settings as directed in your user manual.

RCA 32' colortrak plus connectiuns

If you are connecting the cable to the VCR, and using a cable TV type wire (CATV wire) from the VCR to the TV, this is not the same as an A/V connection.

The VCR should have a built in modulator. In some areas the VCR uses channel 3 or 4. In other areas they are using channel 5 or 6. You will have to refer to the user manual for the VCR to know the channel that is being used for the VCR. On some, it is written at the CATV output connector.

Turn on the VCR, and set the TV to the proper channel for the VCR. Select in the VCR's options to put its output to the CATV, or its channel output. Refer to the book on the VCR for details.

TV will not get cable channels

If you have it hooked up to a digital box, it shouldn't matter if the TV is on cable or antenna mode. The only thing that matters is that the TV is on channel 3. Channels will be changed on digital box. Some newer TV's use input 1 or 2 or AUX for it to work. If I were you i would hook everything up and start playing with the channels going up and down until you get a picture.
