SOURCE: Kenmore progressive upright canister vacuum
Hello, Trish. It sounds like the belt needs to be replaced. You can purchase a belt for you vacuum at any Sears or probably even a local department store and are very easy to replace. Just go to you local Sears and ask an employee to direct you to the vacuum accessories department and you should find the replacement belt. Be sure to write down the model and what type of vacuum it is (i.e. Type U, Type Y, etc.). Hope this was helpful. Please take a few seconds to rate how helpful this suggestion was. Thanks and good luck!

SOURCE: Kenmore progressive canister bad connection from hose to canister
It could be, the female part of the connector is stretched open. You can usually insert something, like a dart, between the sleeve and the holder, to tighten it. If you paid with Pay Pal, see about getting your money back.

hello... you might want to try checking the elbow or neck of the power nozzle for blockage. Remove the wand from the head and look through it. Also look through the wands . If there is no blockage, maybe there is a problem with you nozzle. Reattach all the parts and turn on the machine, turn on the power nozzle. Can you hear the other motor start? If so, check to see if the belt is turning. If it is not, and you definitely hear the secondary motor, then you need a belt. If it doesn't make any sound then, with the machine still running, press the button on the upper part of the power nozzle, this should reset your motor. I hope these tips helped ya, let me know, by giving feedback when asked. thank you, Rene (The Vacuum Doctor)
SOURCE: How do you change the bag in a kenmore progressive
There is a latch just under where the hose enters the main canister section, just behind the handle. Pull back on the latch to open the bag compartment. The bag will pull out of it's plastic holder, then slide the new bag all the way in and close the lid.
