I had this same problem, i think at has something to do with windows 7, but you can change it to run in xpxp compatibility mode. 1) right click the icon for puppy grows, 2) go to properties 3) click compatibility tab 4) click/check box saying(run this programme in compatibilty mode for xp) 5) Open puppy grows icon and it should now work

I noticed the same problem on my pin 8 - however it wasn't the issue. I had the exact same problem and emailed OWI for tech support. The problem was with the battery connector plate. The "nipple" was facing out (away from the battery) rather than in so there was no power getting to the one side. You need to take off the arm and the top two round plates, then you can slide the connector plate out, turn it around and slide it back in. Works now! (This is step 16 in the instruction booklet.)
