Computer powers on but monitor, keyboard and mouse are not working

The computer powers on... the fans are working, and it sounds like the HD makes one brief attempt at starting... the keyboard lights flash once, the monitor shows "no input"... and the keyboard and the mouse are useless...that's it. Anyone have a magic wand?

Sound like your hdd is failing. listen closely to your hdd. if you hear it clicking now and again, well it's on it's way to the bone yard. let it cool down for an hour or so with the pc off!.
it may just start up and boot. if so prepare to clone the hdd cause it's done

Once the monitor shows "no input", indeed the mouse and keyboard are pretty useless, even if the are working, as you cannot see they are working. If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

SOURCE: Won't boot up, Fans are on non-stop

Open up the pc with power off. After cleaning with a blowing or sucking device, gently press on the connections and plug-in devices. Retry.

If no avail, the power supply or the motherboard may have bit the dust. U can get them repaired or replaced.... or save the HD and buy a another pc and add the old HD as a data disk.

SOURCE: My monitor says there is no signal from my new Dell Studio

Try reseating the video card in your new computer. Sounds like it may not be seating in the slot properly. Take it out and put it back in with the power off and then hook everything back up and then see if you get video,.

Blank screen, no signal to monitor, no HD light, no mouse light, no keyboard lights, no beep.

maybe it could be a frayed/broken wire leading to the visual/sound parts. if not then bring it to tech support and have them look at it

Blank screen when Gateway GM5664 turned on

How do you know your mouse and keyboard work if you have a blank screen?

What motherboard did you put in it? Did you install a video card or using a built in video card? How many beeps? Do you have a spare video card to put in the system and try that?

I powered down my computer because I couldn't get my mouse to work. When I powered it back up nothing booted up! The lights are all on and fans are running, but the monitor isn't getting any signal from...

I beleive that this is a virus. some Viruses corrupt the device settings on a mouse or keyboard. you will to try to boot the computer in safe mode. to this when you tun the computer on press the F8 btton on the keyboard. then select safe mode with networking and hit enter. when the computer boots up you will need to run a virus scan. another option is to take the hard drive out of the computer and put it in another computer and run a virus scan on it. Viruses that usually cause this type of problems are redirect viruses found when searching on google.

I turn on the actuall computer but it does not work i try the keyboard notheing it try the mouse notheing and the montitor does not turn on eithrer

Do any / all of the fans work??

If power supply fan doesn't work then most likely faulty power supply. (Try borrowing one to test)

If it still doesnt work then may be faulty mobo, CPU, ram stick.

If you have to purchase another power supply ensure its a higher wattage than the one fitted. Makes your PC a little faster!!

My emachine T1742 desktop will not turn on. When plugged in the power supply's fan turns on, cpu fan doesnt start, both hdd/power led's flicker and pressing power button doesnt power on/off system.

Disconnect all the devices from the computer(tower) including keyboard, mouse, monitor(everything)..even the power cable

Now keep on holding down the power button on the computer tower for 15-30 seconds..

Now release the power button, plug in the power cable, monitor, keyboard, mouse and turn on the computer...

If it works, great!!!

Otherwise, take it for repair..

My monitor ,keyboard, and mouse dosen't work . my computer is a gateway GT 5058

The fact that the monitor, keyboard and mouse don't work points towards a bad motherboard. If you can hear fan's running, see lights on the front of your PC then you are getting power to the motherboard.

Connection

Your HP notebook PC probably has a VGA (aka HD-15) connector. Check page 16 of this PDF to make sure - connector #2 is the VGA connector.

Your Compaq monitor also has a VGA HD-15 connector, so it should plug directly into your laptop's port after unplugging it from the other PC.

You will still need to plug the Compaq monitor's power cable into a wall outlet for power.

If you are going to share this monitor between your notebook and the other PC, you may want to consider purchasing a Keyboard-Video-Mouse switch (known as a "KVM switch") - there are many different models - you will need one with VGA, and whether you need USB or PS/2 keyboard/mouse connections depends on what your other PC's keyboard and mouse are.
