Question about RCA P56923BL 56" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

High Screen I have a older rear screen projection TV that I would love to get out of my house but before I give it away I want to get one more crack at solving the problem that I am having with it. It fires up just, but the display is as if the ''Screens'' for all three colors are turned all the way up to the point where each color is displaying the horizontal lines. I replace the Screen and Focus distribution block, HOT, to no avail. Even if you turn all three variables all the way down there is no changes. The model and chassis # are RCA P56720LV / PTK169PMP. I am guessing that my problem is in the high voltage area but not sure which part would control the brightness of the screens. Any pointers would be helpfull or the schematics which would be even better. Thanks

Does anyone know anywhere to buy a screen for the tv. Ours is cracked badly

This is an older projection TV & I am unable to locate the parts for it, best bet may be to search craig's list for someone locally trying to get rid of one that may have a good screen

High def tv screen got cracked will this affect the tv in any way

You most likely will see the crack during normal operation of watching the TV. Otherwise it doesn't hurt the TV. The screens if available will be expensive.

Screen fades to blue.

The Blue SCREEN setting is too high. These adjustments are located inside the TV behind the front panel. There are two screws behind covers and then a wooden panel to remove to access the adjustments. The leftmost set are for BLUE, the middle are GREEN, and the right are RED. The top row are FOCUS and the bottom are SCREEN. Focus will focus/unfocus the tube and Screen will adjust the power of that tube (there are 3 tubes, one for each color). If Screen is adjusted too high, horizontal lines will appear (my TV had red lines, but I played around with the knobs and saw that it could happen on any of the colors). Additionally, if SCREEN is set even higher than that, the tube could go so high that it turns the whole screen that color (in your case, blue). If this happens the TV will shut down, probably due to either overheating or overvolting. To fix this issue, turn the appropriate SCREEN dial down until the lines go away. In your case, you want to turn the lower left dial down. Don't turn it too far down, if you turn it more than necessary the TV can give you an AKB error (noted by the STANDBY light flashing a sequence of 5 blinks).

While moving someone accidently cracked the screen-can it be replaced

It can be, but at quite the price. Screens are very expensive and can amount to 2/3rds the price of the TV. In most cases, count the warranty out, if you are still under one, unless you found a manufacturer that covers accidental damage. Do you have house insurance or accident insurance with your credit card company if you used it to buy the TV?

You can try it, but through my experience, it just does not look good. You may not have a problem with it. Give it a shot. Good Luck.
