The flap on the 3715 does not lock in tight so that the batteries maintain an electical connection. I have to squeeze the flap with my fingers. I continually have to reset the time, date, etc. Can you help?
in that case u'll have to change the body of the camera. i can tell u a trick: place a piece of an aluminum foil (kitchen foil) between the contacts and the batteries. this will ensure a good connection.

Sure sounds like an electrical contact problem. Did you also clean the contacts. If the connection is tight but the contact is oxidized or dirty, it will still have high resistance. There is a lot of current flowing when you are starting and you need clean tight contacts. Once the bad contact arcs, it will make the problem worse and then you lose power. I guess you can never discount the fact that it could be internal to the battery as well. Next time it is dead, don't touch anything. Leave it dead and just measure the voltage across the battery terminals. Measure directly on the terminal, and not the connector. Hope this helps.
FROM WHAT YOU HAVE DESCRIBBED .IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IS INCOMPLETE .IF YOUR LIGHTS DOES NOT COME ON AND NO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE NOT WORKING AND IT IS A NEW BATTERY. CHECK YOUR GROUND WIRE FOR LOOSE OR CORRODED CONNECTIONS .ENSURE THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED .THEN CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS FOR TIGHTNESS AND CORROSION .IF YOUR STARTER WAS AT FAULT IT WOULD NOT PREVENT THE OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FROM WORKING .
If you have access to an electric voltmeter, with it running check voltage at the battery. The engine should charge the battery and maintain system voltage so that the electic PTO will function. The electic PTO will not pull in if system voltage is too low.
To perform a soft-reset (if the device has locked), briefly insert the stylus or a paperclip into the reset hole on the bottom left of the 3715
To perform a hard reset (losing all data!), insert the stylus or a paperclip into the reset hole on the bottom left of the 3715 while holding down the far left and far right of the four main buttons. Information in the iPAQ File Store will not be lost, but data on the Internal memory will be wiped. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
