Stremium sound system wac700/05 system will not play from hard drive and will not play from a CD. It will play from external source. IE MP3. I have tried switching off power and repowering with the OK button depressed as advised by telephone help line. This does not solve the problem.

here is a procedure to update the firmware without the center if you follow these instructions closely:

    - download the new firmware from Philips website
    - unzip the file, and rename it to was7000_update.bin . I believe the file was labeled wrongly as wac7000_update.bin
    - move your station to within sight of your PC (it is a lot easier to see what is going on)
    - fire up your favorite browser (IE, firefox, safari) and point it to the station IP address (eg: 192.168.1.210)
    - Select Firmware Upgrade and click on the UPGRADE button
    - The station will reboot immediately and display
    Waiting For Firmware
    - Count to 5 seconds (if station is connected via LAN, and 15 seconds if connected via Wifi), erase the URL on your browser and enter the IP address again (DO NOT USE THE REFRESH BUTTON ON YOUR BROWSER)
    - You should see the station configuration screen again
    - Click on Firmware Upgrade and the Upgrade button again
    - The browser screen should now change to a file selection screen. Select the firmware update file (was7000_update.bin) and click ok and Apply. You have to finish this step within 30 seconds or you have to start all over again
    - Browser will now send the image to the station.. it will take about 20 seconds.... DO NOT PRESS STOP, CHANGE URL, TOUCH THE STATION, MOVE THE PC OR BREATHE AT THIS POINT
    - In about a minute, the station screen will change text and an update progress number.
    - When that is done, it will reboot, and you will have the new firmware in the station

Can't get sound when playing cd r dvd

If the CD-R/DVD has sound in another computer or player be sure your computer's external speakers are powered and on. Quit the player application that you are using for the DVD. If you are using the computer's internal speakers, or if the external speakers are plugged in and turned on, go to the System Preferences and open the Sound control panel. Be sure that the correct output sources is selected. Open the CD-R/DVD player and see if the sound now works.

When you record from an external source, the data transfer may be too slow to produce quality recordings. If you're able to download the external source first, then burn it to disk, it should produce good quality recordings.

My system doesn;t boot up and I don't have the CD to boot up my system. When I brought the powerbook G3 it didn't with the CD. Please where can I get it from? I am in Ghana now. Thanks Ishmael

If you have another Macintosh that is working correctly, you can copy the contents of that hard-drive, including the Operating System onto an external hard drive.
To do this, install Carbon Copy Cloner on the working machine and plug in an external hard-drive. Then run Carbon copy cloner and make the source the computer's hard drive most likely named "Macintosh HD". Then choose to have your external hard drive be the drive where all of the data is copied. Then run the program and let it copy all of the files.
Once this is done, remove the external drive from the computer and plug it into your G3. Turn on your G3 while holding the Option (alt) key and then double click on the hard-drive image that is named whatever your external hard-drive is named.
Once your system boots up from the external hard drive, run Carbon Copy Cloner again and repeat the process again except have the source be your external drive and have the internal drive in your G3 be the disk that has all the data copied to it. Once this is done, turn off your computer, remove the external drive, and then boot up your computer again.
You will have an exact clone of the computer that you copied the data from and will just simply need to adjust the account settings as such as you see fit.

The external drive process can be skipped if you have a firewire cable. Simply connect the firewire cable to both computers and when you turn on your G3, hold the "T" key. This will turn your G3 into an external hard drive and you just have to carbon copy the files straight to your computer's internal hard drive.
If you do not have access to another computer mac computer, then you will need to go to the Apple Store and see if the Genius Bar can install the default operating system that your computer came with.
If for some odd reason you have the contents of an Mac OS install disc copied onto a flash drive or external hard drive, you can boot from that and use it in place of a disc.

It freezes the "My Computer"

Be Careful Here!!
If you are connecting this drive to an incompatible host, you risk losing all that important data, and even the host data!!!!!!.
Some of the recent viruses out there can render a USB drive a source of infection that can ruin all the internal drives of the host system. Also, many folks connect an external USB drive to their cherished host without considering whether the USB drive was formatted in a MAC or PC environment. ie, a MAC host system should be able to read from a PC-formatted USB drive, but if you try to write to that external drive, you will likely lose all the PC-written data on that drive. Often, a PC host will not be able to read or recognize a MAC-formatted USB external drive.
Sometimes the problem is that a PC host will want to have drivers installed for the external drive before it will recognize it. This can be very frustrating if you don't, or never had those drivers. Sometimes, you have to reboot the PC host several times before it will recognize the peripheral device. Some devices will never be recognized by a PC host despite your best efforts.
This is one of the reasons why I changed over to MAC. However, I still often find myself in your situation.
One thing you can try is to download and install the drivers from the manufacturer of the external drive. A lot of this is compatibility issues between your host system and peripheral devices you want to connect, and downloading drivers may not be successful.
Another thing to try is to find a MAC user who will let you connect the external drive to their system. MACs tend to have their OS and most common device drivers resident on their system, so the process may be really seamless. Then, you could burn a CD-R or DVD-R with the files you want from the external drive. That disk should be readable by your PC host system.
Finally, the problem may lie in your external drive. I'll tell you that I have had a lot of external hard drive failures in recent years, and I suspect that is due mostly to the fact that, to keep prices competitive, manufacturers may be using hard drive units in the popular external drive market that are at the low end of the reliability scale. ie, when buying Caviar drives from WD, there are several categories, such as Green, Blue and Black, and they have differing reliability ratings, with differing prices. Enough said, except to say that, if you're buying an external drive to use in a reliability function, don't cheap out; spend the extra money.
Please feel free to contact me if you still have problems.

Hello, I plugged in my iomega 1tb desktop hard drive storage device and the drive does not appear in my drive or computer. I do have the new hardware 'sound' that comes up but I dont have the drive show up...

Iomega 1TB Desktop Hard Drive is a dedicated usb 2.0 plug and play external storage device that has an ability to transfer at 480Mbits/second. having these large capacity storage drive needs a fast connection and additional power source to make sure to run the external unit system properly.

just make sure both power and data cables are properly plugged and connected respectively. if you are using it with a desktop, please always plug your usb connection from the Iomega 1TB external drive to the rear USB port in line where you built-in LAN is.do not plug it in the frontload ports. some motherboard manufacturers uses usb 1 and/or 1.1 only for frontload desktop casing provision.

thank you.

MP3, IPOD, CD doesn't appear when I press "Source"

Easy.

If you read your owner's maunal, page 26, the USB is designed for a flash drive (up to 4GB), not an Ipod.
If you would like to play your iPOD, purchase the IPC008 (Ipod Lead) and you're done!
