Question about Philips Televison & Video
Can anyone help. I've been using the abobe philips dvd recorder for 6 months or so and quite happily recording onto blank memorex dvd-r discs.
However, the last couple of times I've tried to record, the machine tries to load the disc as though it has content on it, comes up with an error message, and won't let me record.
The discs are from the same pack as the ones I've been successful with, and I've tried discs from a new pack. No luck!
Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution please.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

CLEANING THE DISC LENS ? If this unit still does not perform properly although you refer to the relevant sections and to ?TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE? in this Owner?s Manual, the laser optical pickup unit may be dirty. Consult your dealer or an Authorized Service Center for inspection and cleaning of the laser optical pickup unit. FROM EWR20V5 OWNERS MANUAL FUNAI-CORP.COM

I had that exact same problem. I would record a bunch of dvds with no problems for months and then some and one day it doesn't work. Only this showed up E4 EA03738B. However I've found the solution. Instead of going out and returning the recorder or buying new dvds just purchase a Laser Lense Cleaner. It's a dvd cleaner. Works like a charm.

SOURCE: Won't Read blank disc!!
I my DVD-HR735 wont recognise any discs at times, and is getting worse. I've now discovered (out of frustration) that if I tip the front up to between 30-45 degrees, it will play all the discs it says were unreadable. I've started jamming three dvd boxes under the front of the machine when i want to play dvds.

Take, if good batteris from the remote controller and recycel the unit, and by a better one. I have the same problem, recordings will stay on the dvd only a short thime readable and later the disk is empty.
