Problems refilling the HP60 cartridge

I have a new HP F4240 printer which uses a HP60 cartridge. I have refilled every other printer cartridge that I have ever used, and it has been many, but this HP60 cartridge does not seem to be refillable what so ever. I have tried to refill 4 different cartridges and have the same problem with all of them. The cartridge is full but will not print and the printer tells me that the black is empty. I do a lot of printing in my business and that is why I refill my own, but this one seems to be a problem. I have done some reading and have seen others say that the HP60 is not refillable. Can anyone help or did I waste $100 on this printer. $15 per cartridge is getting expensive and we go through 1 per week. It would be cheaper for me to throw this printer away and buy one that uses a different cartridge.
Can any one help????

You have to do a reset of the ink level. On this one I do not know how to do that. There is a "3 ink cartridge" trick but I do not have 3 at this time. What you do is take 3 ink cartridges and run them though one at a time. Each ink cartridge has a chip in it that the printer reads. It rememebers the last 3 so it see the 4th one as new no matter the ink level. There is a trick of taping over the contacts and using the same ink cartridge instead of 3 but you have to know which pins to tape over and remove the tape before you print. Hate to say it but all new printers may start using ink cartridges that can not be refilled. So keep those old printers.

This is a follow-up one I postd on Jul. 8

If you cant get your hp60 (black) to print after refill ... try puncturing the filter with your refill syringe needle. It's directly down the center hole.

    Good luck.

Ya, what you got to do is that >>
Step 1: Go to C:\Program Files\HP and Delete as much as files you can delete from this Folder

Step 2: Go to Start >> Printer and Faxes
then select your HP Printer and Right Click on it
Go to >> Proplerties >> Ports and
uncheck "Enable Bidirectional Support"

Step 3: Go to Start >> All Programs >> HP >> "Your Printer Name" >> then Below "Add a device option" delete all the things except Uninstall option.

Do all these and always Refill your cartridge before its out of ink .
Hope this will solve your problem

PS: You might wonder how the Printer will work without its driver file, Well, the actual drivers of HP printers are here: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool . So if you delete things from HP the printer will still run with its basic functions and no Solution Center

It is a Good Practice to refill your HP 60 (Black) Cartridge with 2 ml Ink after around 30 pages printed.
Use Pigment Type Ink for refilling Black 60

How can you know that the ink is Pigment ? Well, that's easy !
put a very little amount of refill ink into a A4 paper and brush your finger on it to make a Black Circle of 1 inch diameter. wait for 2 minutes and put a drop of water on it. Ink from the circle diluted into water ......then it is Dye Type..........Ink is not that much faded then its the right type of ink for HP 60 Black.

I have no problems refilling the HP60 cartridges.

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: http://www.pokluda.cz/. You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.

For Windows 7 - and printer HP photosmart c4780 - but this works for other platforms and HP printers. (see both solutions below - solution 2 is worth trying if 1 does not work)

To disable ink checking - digital imaging software - automatic software updates. I disabled the whole lot as i don't need it. But you can try to experiment with what you disable and not disable to see if you can keep the other software functions.

Solution 1
Go to "Run" and enter msconfig - goto the Services Tab - uncheck - HP digital services, maybe another HPsch*** (cant remember name).

Now Go to control panel -goto System & Security - Admininstrative tools - Click on Services - find HP Cue Discovery Service - right click and select disable - find HPQCXS08 - right click and select disable.

Now roboot the machine - your ink monitor is now disabled & when you click on HP solution center you will get a message telling you that your installation was not complete and to reinstall.

Solution 2

HP has posted a solution to get Ink levels to work- so you just need to do the opposite

I would like to add that after disabling the service "hpqcxs08" as above - the next time you print, you will receive a "ink levels not available at this time" message.

My f2400 deskjet printer show cartridge problem in tri cartridge and it was not print the document

You must be using HP60 for your printer.

Is it brand new original cartridge you tried?

If so, you'd better get refund.

If not, did you refill your cartridge?? And how did you refill?

If you used needle & syringe method, the air gap may be made during refill.

If air is inside of cartridge, you may not get decent print..getting skipped lines.....

What you got to do is, **** out the ink and try to get rid of the air gap.

And try again.

For your reference, here is how you refill HP60 in easy way:

I replaced my ink cartridge and now my printer wont come on Cassyangel29@yahoo.com

Have you refilled your cartridge? or used compatible?

If you refilled your cartridge, either you put in too much ink in it.
Try to **** out the ink and try back.

Your HP60 cartridge can be saved by refill.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

Trying to reload color cartridge.

Many brand name printer cartridges have a code that tells the printer they are a new cartridge. Once the cartridge is empty it will never again tell the printer that is it new.

You can refill the cartridge but it will continue to tell the printer that it is empty.

You say you "had my ... cartridges refilled today" so I suggest you go back to the folks who refilled them and ask them for suggestions.

Otherwise, purchase off-brand cartridges that won't tell the printer they're empty and keep refilling them as needed.

Another approach: purchase a new printer that won't give you this problem. I refill my Lexmark cartridges without any problems.

HP C4480 printer.Refilled the cartridge, how do I tell the printer

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

How to reset the ink level for a HP 60 ink cartridge? I have just refilled a HP 60 black ink cartridge but can not find anything on how to reset the ink level. I would do the "3 ink cartridge" trick but I...

You cannot reset the ink level indicator for the HP 60 ink cartridge. It shouldn't matter anyway because the level is only estimated for "management purposes only" (see user manual) meaning to let you know when it's near time to order a new cartidge. I have tried cycling through 3 different cartridges to reset the ink level for the one I refilled but it didn't work. Refill and just ignore the ink level indicator. Also, it's a good idea to clean the print heads with the solvent in the refill kit before refilling to remove old ink and imrpove print quality.

300/60 not compatiable!

Good ol' ebay has new and reman HP 60's black and color at rock bottom prices and they ship cheap. I haven't had good luck refilling HP 60 either, but search ebay for "HP60 inkjet cartridges" and you'll see many options. I bot 2 remanufactored ones and one was dead. The two cheap new ones I got were good. The " refill kit" I got was a disaster even after the seller refunded all my money. Good luck and happy shopping.
