Hi ,
I have a 2003 vectra 2.0tdi , very occassionally when starting it fires
then instantly dies then it takes ages to restart , when it eventually will
restart " 10 mins or so " it starts in a big cloud and black smoke and
starts very rough for a few seconds ?
Anyone any ideas please
Thanks
Kaz

I had a similar thing with my Astra 2.0 DTi... turned out to be the fuel
return pipes which were
replaced under warranty.
Could be the glowplugs though...

Thanks Alan , yes im waiting till the glow light goes out and only have
clutch pedal depressed as the manual says , the car is under warranty but
will they look at it with being such an intermittent fault ?

It sounds to me like a glow plug issue. Are you waiting until the
pre-heater light goes out before starting? Also, are your feet off the
pedals when you turn the key?
Either way, your dealer should be able to sort it easily.
