OK, I'll use my "directions for a woman" voice. :-)

Give me Model number of the TV, and the cable box, so I can see what connections you have available. I don't think we will daisy chain the unit's together like was done with a VCR in the past (Antenna to VCR, then VCR to TV).

We will probably set the VCR on one input, the DVD on another, and the cable box on another. Or we may daisy chain one or two together. But I need to look at the connections.

What outputs do you have available on your Mintek, and what inputs do you have available on your Philips TV?

Will a cable box be in the loop?

Will there be a surround sound receiver in the system too?

Newer TVs have multiple inputs. Mr Mark is correct, you generally do not daisy-chain Audio/Video units unless you are using a recording device. Cable box to Cable input on TV. DVD player to other inputs.

Let's get some terminology out of the way. Specifically for the Mintek DVD-1600. There are NO inputs.

Coaxial Audio out (orange) is for digital audio only. Usually connects to stereo reciever for Dolby 5.1 surround sound. Not for TV.

S-Video (black w/4 small holes, 1 square) is for better quality video than composite. Use this to TV instead of Composite if you have a S-Video input on your TV.

Composite (Yellow) Older video input type. Works just fine. Connect to TV.

Audio Output ( Red & White) for analog stereo only. Goes to TV. Red=right, White=left channels.

Component Video Out (Blue, Green White) is the newest video output type in this unit. Better than S-Video. Use this option if available on your TV instead of S-Video or component.

I forgot to mention the RF OUT. It looks like an S-Video output, but do not be fooled. This is apparently a special jack for a Mintek RF Adapter used to hook up the DVD player to an older TV that only has the Cable/Antenna connection which requires RF modulation. You can use any of the other outputs for any RF Modulator for such a TV.

How can i hook up my player to my tv with no rca inputs

There are adaptors. I bought a Philips brand that allows any dvd player to be connected to any television. You connect the RCA cables to the Philips adaptor from the DVD player then you connect the Philips adaptor to the rf input of the television with a coaxial cable.

Mintek DVD-1600 Setup to cable box/tv

A dvd player that doesn't record hooks straight to the television, not the cable box. Tv's typically have av jacks. If yours doesn't, you will need to buy an rf modulator. If your tv has the jacks, U will need to use your tv remote and hit tv video or input or source on that tv remote to switch between input and tv modes.

Unable to watch DVD's on this TV

Your DVD player may be set up to put out a different mode. Are you using the component cables or s-video? If it's the component cables, make sure you're player is putting out 480p. Also, try it with another set to see of you can localize the problem.
