If you have a yellow tint that is probably a fault.

You can ensure that this is not a video settings problem by checking the menu at page 16 of user manual.

You also get the user manual here: Users Manual

The problem is likely a defective cable or an internal fault on one of the RGB channels.

There is 5 coaxial wires going to DLP projector from Controller box.
Please check Green connecting wire as that seems lose / disconnected causing yellow image.

Yellow tint is a result of some element in the imaging discoloring from heat. Normal culprit is the polarizing filter.

OR - burnt optical element.

Don't attempt a repair unless you have extensive electrical training. You may end up doing additional damage.

Picture has a yellow tint. It's from an old video game that ran over 12 hours a day. Has new bulb. Except for the yellow, works fine.

Hello there:
The best way to describe this is what is called screen burn in.
this is very common on screns that have games or pictures that arre displayed for long periods of time without being shut down just like on a computer screen when a screen saver is not used .
there is nothing wrong with the bulb.
the yellow that you are seeing is actually burned into the glass part of the projector and the lense
so if you can and feel like you can dissasemble the projector dissassemble it and locate the glass and see if you can get the yellow tint that will be on the glass and the lense off by using some rubbing alcohol and a cottomn swab
But if it wont come off you will have to replace the lense and the glass ok
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

Projection has yellow tint

From your description, it sounds like a problem with the blue color. Green LCD=purple onscreen, Red=cyan(baby blue) onscreen, Blue LCD=yellow onscreen. It could be a lot of dust on the blue lcd panel, or worse, might be a burned polarizer filter behind the lcd panel due to excessive heat. If you can focus on the yellow and its tons of yellow specs, its dust. A burned filter however, must be replaced. A technician trained in projectors will have to do it. The filter material is glued to a thin glass panel and is replaced as a single filter. It's a very involved repair.

My video yellow plug works fine, showing correct video colors yet, the red blue green connection is only showing picture in a pale green

Yellow is composite input if RGB is not working it's probably a cable/output problem try with a different device first.

I am not a 100% sure, but that would be my first thought on what the problem is. I would call Hitachi support and go through troubleshooting with them to find out the cost of the repair.

Blueish tint on picture

no... lcp panels will look different when going bad ! this is the polarization filter, most of the time the one BEFORE the lcd panel (blue in this case). these should be cheap but are not easy to get...so you might pay quite a lot. you can also buy polarization filter sheets and cut them to size. keep in mind to check for the right orientation !
