Hi there
Try another ribbon cable and clear the cmos >>> No display or startup! - cce5f1a.jpgmove the plastic jumper to the other position, and turn the machine on, if nothing happens, you have cleared the cmos, put the jumper back in its original position and see it the PC boots.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

one more thing to check is system memory, take it out turn the machine on, if it beeps the processors working ok and you know its the memory. If it doesn't then the motherboard has probably failed.

    Good luck

It could be your processor.

I think its dead.

I've had that problem too.

check your power supply, for the right voltages, in the right places.

You could be missing 5v or 3.3v.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

dont forget to vote
hope this helps

First, make sure you plug the power from the fan back into the motherboard & try it again. Did you do anything else besides just pulling out your old hard drive & putting the new one in? The CPU fan is completely independent of the CPU fan. You can start up you system without ANY hard drives & the CPU fan will come on if it's plugged in & the power supply is working etc. If you make sure the fan is plugged in correctly & the fan still doesn't come on, I suggest you temporarily put your old hard drive back in & firing things up. I'm sure you will find that the fan still doesn't work.

All that said, if the CPU fan isn't working (& everything else is), then it's a bad fan or motherboard. It's not necessarily a bad motherboard. Sometimes there are jumpers that control that sort of thing. I'm not sure exactly what that motherboard does. I have had this exact motherboard for years & as long as the fan is plugged in (& the power supply is working), when you start things up, the fan comes on.

One last thought, try flipping the power supply switch in the back to reset the power supply before you press the button in the front. Good luck...

FAN OK BUT NO DISPLAY

I like that. Kinda' rhymes. "Fan OK but no Display"

Problem is your Processor isn't turned on.

You have a bad Power Supply.
> Weak voltage power rail.

You probably have a 200 to 300 Watt power supply. (SMPS)

1) ALL of the LED lights together use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.

3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 watts. Depends on what Processor it is.

The Intel D845GVSR motherboard uses a Socket 478 processor socket.
Supports Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4, and Intel Celeron D, that utilize a Socket 478 processor socket, and have a maximum FSB of 533MHz.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Utilizes the Intel 845GV motherboard chipset.
[ Intel 82845GV Northbridge chip, and Intel ICH4 Southbridge chip ]

89 Watts is the maximum wattage, that can be used by a Processor for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

Power Supply has enough power to light LED lights, and spins fans, but not enough to turn the Processor on.
No Processor operating, No computer.
No computer, No video signal to the monitor.
(No Signal)

Do you have access to a KNOWN to be good, compatible Power Supply, for a test unit?

Loud Whining Noise from Motherboard on Startup

Whining noise is something in motion or moving.Does the graphics card have a onboard fan?Is it clean and free moving.

How about the processor fan? clean, free from wires or anything hitting it.?

Disconnect hard drive and see if you get the sound.

SuperMicro H8DCE-O R Motherboard no video

did you plug up toe power to the video card, the problem seems to be that the video card is getting no power, if the power is hooked up properly to the video card, the your power supply is probably not powerful enough.

SuperMicro H8DCE-Motherboard no video

Are you hooking up The 24 pin ATX J1B1 connector and the 8 pin processor power connector JBW1 ? Alot of guys don't realize that new AMD's get power from a special connector on the motherboard..If you don't have this connector on your power supply you will need to get one that does. Hope it is this easy.

Motherboard not working correctly.

The way that I solved the problem was to unhook each and every connection to the motherboard except for the 4-pin and 24-pin power supply connections, the processor, the cpu fan and the power on switch connectors, once I have done that, then I plugged in the power supply and turned it on, in which that worked! After that, I would hook everything up to the motherboard one piece at a time, in which after each piece I would turn the power supply on again to see if that was the problem. Starting with the hard drive, the memory sticks and then the DVD drive, and found out that was the problem. The cable between the DVD drive and motherboard was the wrong cable for that motherboard. I will purchase a new cable and see if that works!
