According to my HLR service manual, after replacing the color wheel you need to go into the service menu and adjust the Index Delay and CCA. The adjustments are 6 and 7 step procedures, each (but they look easy in the manual). You can get a service manual for your tv at samsungparts.com and do the procedures if you are comfortable with the service menu.

This is a known issue you received a newer colorwheel on the board where the color wheel plugs in you will find a jumper you need to move the jumper to the other colorwheel setting because on the new color wheel it inverter the two colors it helps because the new wheels have better pic quality. (they say)

Move the jumper and this will resolve the polarizing but since you already adjusted the cca you now will need to adjust it one more time to finish the alignment.

Hope this helps

There is a small slip of paper that was supplied with the color wheel. This has specific parameters for the color wheel you installed.

In order to set the values, you will need a service manual. Also their is a jumper on the light engine that may need to be removed.

If you are not familiar with these procedures, I recommend you contact a service company and have them do it for you.

If you have misplaced the parameter sheet, the setup will be more dificult.

If the color wheel you replaced was the BP96-00674A, it would have come with the proper cca adjustments for that particular wheel. You must enter the service menu and reset the cca's for proper color.
Most times color does not gets reset. If you have a very ugly green or blue picture, then you did not pull the jumper on the dm board. This jumper must be removed when a bering type color wheel has been replaced with a new airless bering color wheel.

this is to reset lamp hours still try that if that is the problem this instructions will help you. The service menu is pretty well hidden behind a sequence of key presses on your remote. Here’s how to get in there:
1. Turn your system off.
2. Press the following buttons individually with a short pause between each: Mute-1-8-2-Power.
The Television will turn on into the service menu. Once in there look in the Options menu for the lamp hours and counter reset. As for the other settings, I’ve never messed with them, and I’d caution against playing around there!

Remove the small black pin jumper in the back center of dvm modual.
it looks like a larger hard drive jumper.
ther is a squair hole cut in the tin bach mesh
use tweesers to remove the black jumper.

The jumper is on the dmd bd. close to the dlp chip heat sink. Need tweesers or small needle nose to slide the jumper off of the two small pins. Each BP96-00674A color wheel has the new CCA settings taped to the new wheel. You must enter the the service menu and reset the CCA's for this color wheel.

to get to the service menu start with the tv off and then press mute > 1 > 8 > 2 > power on the remote the tv will come on with the menu displayed

Is it possible to have only the red tint projector lamp replaced on 61" projector Samsung tv

No. This is a DLP TV. It gets it's color by a color wheel. If color seems to drift across screen or there is a loud-ish whining noise from back of TV that you can here clear across a room, then this color wheel may be bad. They wear out.

Samsung DLP R&R Color wheel Model #HLR5078w

Samsung's digital light projection (DLP) televisions use a spinning color wheel to create the colors that are seen on the screen. If the color wheel becomes misaligned during use, it will become damaged and have to be replaced. Replacing the color wheel on a Samsung DLP television can be done at home, once a compatible-sized color wheel has been bought from a TV supply store.Replacing the color wheel yourself will void any Samsung warranty that might be in place, but is the only solution for getting the TV working again in as short a time as possible.
Put on the anti-static grounding strap to keep static electricity from damaging the internal components of the Samsung DLP TV. Turn the Samsung around so that the back is facing you. Make sure the Samsung is unplugged from the AC socket.
2
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove all of the screws from the back panel. Put the screws aside. Pull off the back panel.
3
Loosen the two screws from each side of the projection bulb's case. Pull the projection bulb out. Put the projection bulb aside. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from the left side panel. Pull the side panel and the circuit board attached to it out carefully and put it down so that the cables attached to it have not been pulled out.
4
Take a picture of the power cable's position with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Pull the power cable out from inside of the Samsung's case so that the center panel is free to be pulled out. Remove the two large headed screws from the center panel with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the top two screws holding the panel to the plastic case using the Phillips screwdriver.
5
Slowly slide the center unit out a few inches. Take a picture of the projector lens' positioning with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Unplug the two cables from the left side of the center panel. Unscrew the sensor switch using the Phillips screwdriver. Slide the center panel completely out of the Samsung and put it down on the clean cloth. Blow off the color wheel assembly with the compressed air.
6
Use the tweezers to remove the green plug from the top of the color wheel cover. Use the tweezers to remove the two cables at the side that are coming from the color wheel. Use the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to remove the screws from the top, front and back of the color wheel cover. Slide the color wheel cover straight up to expose the color wheel.
7
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the color wheel to the color wheel assembly. Lift the color wheel up and out of the color wheel assembly and discard it.
8
Position the replacement color wheel in the color wheel assembly. Reassemble the color wheel and reassemble the color wheel assembly. Put the color wheel assembly back into position in the rear of the Samsung DLP TV. Reassemble the Samsung DLP TV. Plug the Samsung DLP TV back in for power. Turn the Samsung on and enjoy seeing the colors displayed properly again now that you have replaced the color wheel.

TV made a big popping sound, and then a crackling

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php That crackling sound could be of the color wheel:The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is BP9601073A you can find original here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-01073A-lamp-p/samsung-bp96-01073a-lamp-oem.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!
