I had vista and was installing windows 7 and got to the network part of the install and the system went to resart and it went to a black screen with a fashing curser and now i can not access anything on my...

guess u were trying to install Win7 over Vista...it does not work that way....Win7 need to be a clean install...that is...it must be installed in a new partition after doing a full low level format....so you will have dual boot at start up...and u chose what u want vista or Win7 to work with for that specific session....
Dual boot helps in many ways...
1 - it helps file management better
2 - it helps to boot from one OS in case the other gives trouble
3 - virus attack are removed from either OS
etc etc

the best way to getback you system is to
1 download KILLDISK (DOS) utility program, get the DOS version
2 copy it on to a CD
3 get hold of a Win98 CD (bootable)
4 boot from Win98 cd, dont chose to install Win98,
5 press ESC and let Win98 quit installing, it will lead to a drive letter of you CDROM (say D or E as the case may be)
6 insert the CD that has the KILLDISK DOS utility
7 Run the program by typing KILLDISK at the CD drive letter prompt.
8 Read all the options available there...and kill the drive in which you had VistaOS/Win7 (C)...this will make all you C: drive sectors to "0"
i.e. it will wipe your C: drive clean and u can start with a clean slate....
if u r not concerned with the data in you disk...wipe all drives and disks in the PC....a 20GB disk will take aprox 1 hr to finish

for all this u must have the BIOS enabled to boot from CDROM drive...

once killdisk has finished doing the wiping process....
insert the Vista or Xp cd and install either...in the partition option make 3 or more partitions....C, D, E of at least 30 GB min for each...as Win7 will take aprox 18 GB....
in C: drive install Vista or XP as the case may be.....
once done....let the system boot and let it load Vista or XP
once in Desktop you can insert the Win7 cd and install it on the D or E: drive....the CDROM drive letter will change accordingly....when you make the partition....so be carefull to

let me know....

When ever i plug my cd rom it has a crashing sound then when the os booting need to start the cd rom is not connected anymore how can i fix this?

at boot go into the bios system, under "advanced settings" there should be a hard drives area, make sure that your CD drive is correctly displayed in the BIOS. looking to see if its correctly named with no funky characters.

it should also display the CDROM name during the "boot time diagnostic screen" if that is enabled in the bios. (its the quick flash of a screen just before the hard drive boots and throws a windows splash screen).

if the bios doesnt pass the CDROM as attached, windows doesnt know its there.

if the BIOS passes all the correct info then go into the control panel under windows and into the device manager (cant find it hit? F1 and type "device manager") and look under the drives section to see if there is any issues with the deivce. this is also the place you would use if you decide to change drivers.

No matter what i do cd rom not detecting

check whether the powe plug has been inserted properly and the power plug is working fine. Even though if the power plug inserted is working fine and CD ROM not detecting means CD ROM was damaged.

Will not boot, bios does not show a hard drive, only two CD drives

The peripheral devices as Hard disk and cdrom is not connected with the IDE cable or has loose contace. Even power cable of devices is not properly done or left out. So you need to check the IO IDE cable connetions and the power cable connections of the devices being connected to the mother board.

Getting ERROR FOR OPERATING SYSTEM

This is because you have to change the boot sequence in the BIOS or setup of the motherboard. When you first turn on the computer you can see something like press DEL to enter Setup or F12 or F10 or F2 depending onyour motherboard. once you get into setup you will see either boot sequence or boot order. Set the CDROM as the first boot device. Then when you startup the computer again you will see PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD. proceed with pressing anything on the keyboard.

Asus laptop NTLDR missing

Hi supertwins,
Once you deleted the drive C: (You have trashed the operating system.
You're Asus driver CD will not help you at this stage.
Did you receive a restore CD? If yes you load that into the CDROM drive & boot to the CDROM.
(You do not have a restore CD)?
Than you are left with the Windows CD. Load the windows CD into the CD-ROM drive. Power up the notebook. Start pressing the F8 key on the keyboard. Soon you will see a screen that says: Please select boot device: Choose the CD-ROM drive that has the windows CD in it. High light the CDROM & press enter key. Windows should start to load. Follow the instructions on you're screen & install windows. During the install windows will restart & you will see: to load from CD press any key... (DO NOT TOUCH anything! Allow windows to continue all by it's self.
This same screen will come up at lease twice. (Just let it go).
When windows has finished you can than remove the windows CD & load the Asus CD into the notebook. Install all the software on the Asus CD. When finished installing the software from Asus, update windows through windows update service.
Good Luck!

Mike
