I turn on my puter it goes to the user login and then logs off

Hi,

I've run into this problem too often lately. So far I haven't managed to find a decent fix for it :( I've ended up having to backup the computer's data, reinstall windows, and restore all the data.

From the times I've seen it you get to the login screen, click on your user, get the "Loading personal Settings", a quick flash of the desktop, then back to the login screen saying "saving personal settings". It would do this in both safe mode and normal mode, so I was never able to try turning off startup software or services.

Booting to the windows XP disc and running a check disc might help, but from my experience with the problem you will probably need to reinstall windows. Hopefully someone else has a better idea.

Best of luck :)

Start Menu Picture Disappeared Suddenly

Turn the Welcome screen on or off It sounds as if you accidentally turned off the welcome screen. Here's how to turn that function on and off:

To turn the Welcome screen on or off
You must have a computer administrator account on a computer that is a member of a workgroup or is a stand-alone computer to turn on or turn off the Use the Welcome screen feature. Logging on at the Welcome screen is not available on computers that are members of a network domain.
  1. Open shortcutcold.gifUser Accounts in Control Panel.
  2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To specify that users log on to the computer using the Welcome screen, select the Use the Welcome screen check box. A user logs on to the computer by clicking his or her user account name on the Welcome screen. If a password is assigned to the account, the user is prompted to type it.
    • To specify that users log on to the computer without using the Welcome screen, clear the Use the Welcome screen check box. The Welcome screen will no longer appear when you start the computer. To log on to the computer, type your user name (and password, if you have one) in the standard Log On to Windows dialog box.
note.gif Notes
  • To open User Accounts, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
  • Fast User Switching is available only when the Welcome screen is turned on. For more information, click Related Topics.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

Slow performance - Frequent Hanging of system

Do you run the Aero them with the glass windows effects etc. and have the windows sidebar running? I have found that this tends to slow down my computer a lot.

To turn off Aero:
  1. Right click on an empty area of the desktop
  2. click personalize
  3. click window colour and appearance
  4. select colour scheme:"windows vista basic"
  5. click ok
To turn off sidebar:
  1. go to start-> control panel
  2. Click windows sidebar
  3. deselect "start sidebar when windows starts"
  4. click ok
  5. on the task bar right click the windows sidebar icon
  6. click close

Run as Problem

You need to copy rundll32.exe from any of your friends or relatives pc. If this does not solve your problem then take backup of necessary softwares and files even though openwith lists pops up. Then format your pc and install new operating system. In this way you will get your problem solved and your data will remain safe.
