Hp laptop dv9500 noisy and loud fan ...

Hi,

Recently I have problem with my 17" hp laptop. There is a loud grinding noise coming from somewhere where the fan is fitted.The noise starts after few minutes I start the laptop. I could not figure out what kind of fan is causing problem. Some people told it could be cpu fan or normal fan or it could be a power supply fan. Recently I have installed Notbook hardware control (NHC) software and suddenly I got extermely low contrast on the screen and the noise stopped. It never happened before. When fan starts making noise I must have to stop working. After installing this software I almost solved the problem, but still it kicks off intermittently. Could anybody tell me what could be the problem ?

The sound you are hearing is probably the fan, This fan has a noisy bearing and will eventually lock up and the fan will stop spinning and therefore the CPU will overheat and shutdown.
The fan needs to be replaced.

@fatma_ahmed9

If you hear rattling or grinding noise from your fan, that's already a sign that it's breaking down and needs to be replaced and the computer will eventually gets very hot because it couldn't accommodate and blow the heat out of the processor anymore. If you know your way around the computer and want to replace the fan yourself, you can get spare parts here or here and disassembly guide here.

Good Luck.

My new acer laptop is very noisy. The noise comes from the fan, every one minute.

the noise is normal and yes they are loud, make sure that you have adequate ventilation around the exhuast port of the laptop and it may not run as often.

I had a pavilion dv4-1430us for over a year, recently I started up the fan was very noisy like a bearing noise. what should I do? thanks for the advice

If you have no experience with opening an repairing computers or laptops I recommend you take the computer to an HP Laptop Service center. If you understand the issues involved you can order a cooling fan from HP and install it yourself as long as you keep track of the screws in the outer case and where they go as well as any cabling.

Fan is noisy -loud wheezing sound.No dust. Banging on case sometimes stops the noise.

The fan has a noisy/worn bearing, I recommend replace the fan.
Banging the laptop base is not recommended, you could damage the hard disk.

A loud grinding noise comes from the fan area

Check if there are dust debris on the fan, it could create a grinding noise, but if the fan is clean, there could be a mechanical problem with it. Hope this helps

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and the fan has started making noises

Its possible but it would require taking out all the screws from the bottom of the latop, taking out the keyboard and the screws from the top cover. Then disconnecting the ribbon for the mouse pad and any other plugs coming from the top cover. After you take off the top cover you'll expose where the fan is at and at that point you can clean it off. If it still makes weird sounds then the fan would need to be replaced.
