Okay. if your jailbreaking is not working than it is something to do with who or from where you bought your ipod or the jailbreak program. If you are wanting to jailbreak your ipod i reaccoment the program HiJackThis it worked on my old ipod touch. But A word of warning. after i jailbreaked by ipod i dropped it and the screen cracked. they would not fix my iPod for the single reason that by "Jail Breaking" your iPod you break you warrenty and Apple will no longer repair it.

Restore mode is different from DFU mode (CLICK HERE to learn more). You must connect your iPod touch to your PC again and do these steps to put it to DFU mode:
  1. Plug/connect your device to a computer (PC or Mac)
  2. Turn it OFF
  3. Press and hold the POWER and HOME buttons together for EXACTLY 10seconds
  4. Release the POWER button but keep holding the HOME button until the computer beeps indicating that a USB device is recognized.
  5. Re-do the jailbreak.
To make sure that you do things right, I recommend you read my tip: http://www.fixya.com/support/r8764632-jailbreak_ios_4_2_1_all_idevices_iphone

My ipod is disabled and wont connect to itunes i try to put my password in but wont let me and i tried to restore it but it wont turn off

One way that should work is to put your ipod into dfu mode. to do this you must:
  1. Hold down the sleep and power button for ten seconds till the screen goes black.
  2. when the screen goes back release the power button and continue to hold the home button until the screen shows connect to itunes.
  3. Plug your ipod in your computer start Itunes and click restore.

*NOTE* by doing this you will lose everything that is currently stored on your ipod.

Getting message error -40 cant connect to itunes on my ipod 2g a1288

1. First, Open up iTunes, plug in your iPod Touch/iPhone to the CPU's USB port. Turn on your CPU's speaker and make sure it is loud enough that you can hear it.

2. Hold down the Home button (top left for iPod Touch and top right for the iPhone with the screen facing you) and the Power button (located on the front bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone) simutaneously, until the screen goes black and the device turns off. (past the red slider/slide to power off screen)

3. Now let go of the Power button, but continue to hold the Home button. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should have turned off and the screen should not be on.

4. After around ~10-20 seconds, you will hear a noise (beep/ding) from your CPU as if it had just recognized a new hardware device, now iTunes should recognize it in DFU mode.

5. After iTunes recognizes the iPod Touch/iPhone, let go of the Home button otherwise it will go into recovery mode and you will have to do the entire DFU process over again.

6. You will know when you have put your iPod Touch/iPhone correctly into DFU mode when the display is blank and that you do not have anything on your device.

7. Restore ipod using itunes

Ipod keep freezing with only the apple showing on screen...wont do anything else...says port is not found

1) Start iTunes.

2) Power the device on by holding the sleep/wake and home button for about 10 seconds. Release the sleep/wake button, but keep holding the home button.

3) If you did it correctly, the device will be showing either a connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) or a black screen (DFU mode) We are trying for DFU mode here, but recovery may work too. Connect the ipod to your computer. iTunes will tell you that it has detected an iPhone or iPod touch in recovery mode.

4) If you see the iTunes icon and cable on your iPhone, your device is not in DFU mode, but in recovery mode. Your device's screen will be black when you are in DFU mode. I always have to try this several times so succeed.

5) Connect your device back to your Pc/Mac and press SHIFT+CLICK (pc) or COMMAND+ CLICK on the restore button.

6) Select the firmware version you'd like to install from your computer. You can google for ipod touch firmare to download the file, or just let it update right from apple.
7) Wait for a couple of minutes and your iPhone/iPod will be as new.

It wont turn on

Even though it cannot turn on, it's a good sign that it is connecting to iTunes (the tab, N/A).

Place the iPod into DFU Mode, or force restore.
(The tell-tale signs are not present due to its display being off)

Restart the computer or, if possible, try on another comp.
*Be sure it is connected via USB Cord.
1) Hold down the home and power (top) button for 10-15 seconds
-If the tab appears on connection via USB, it will disappear
2) Let go of the power (top) and continue holding the home button for 30-35 seconds.
-The tab will reappear with a popup preceding it.
*It is now in DFU Mode.

Now try a regular restore with iTunes. Ignore the firmware you have downloaded and just use stock 2.2.

If the errors continue, then restart the computer and be sure all iTunes processes are ended. Also, it can be finicky and may just need a little bit of time.
After each error, follow the above steps to place it into DFU Mode and try again. It can get tedious, but give it time and it'll work.

After it goes to stock 2.2, you can then downgrade with your 2.1 firmware and jailbreak via QuickPwn.

just google the said softwares here.they are free wares. but before you start you should have the latest itunes intsalled in your computer and restore the ipod touch agin. and youre done

My ipod touch is stuck on the itunes usb port screen, can't get this to go away...please help!

Is this the screen your talking about?

... If this is what your seeing in your iPod touch, that means it is currently in restore (DFU) mode.

Try this first: turn OFF your iPod touch by holding the power button (the only button on the top-right corner of the iPod) for about 3 to 5 seconds. After it's completely OFF, wait for about 3 to 5 seconds, then turn it back ON by holding the power button.

If you still see the same screen, then you're gonna have to connect it to a computer and restore your iPod touch. What's gonna happen when you restore is all data in your device will be removed, as if your device is new.

As I said above, seeing this screen means that your device is already in DFU (restore) mode, so all you need to is restore through iTunes in your computer.

Open iTunes in your computer then plug in your device. After that, iTunes will automatically detect that your device is in restore mode. This means, the only thing you can do is restore, nothing else.

If you are planning to jailbreak your device, you must restore to SW version 3.1.2 and not the latest 3.1.3. Click here for instruction on how to do that.

I forgot the code to my itouch =s

You have to wipe it and start all over again. Like the day you bought it... If you wont to do that you will lose all of your data..
But if you wont wont to here is how: 1. You need to put your ipod touch in DFU mode.( google it) 2. your computer should reconize it as (Apple Ipod Touch (DFU) Mode). 3. Start up itunes, and it should say. (iPod touch in recover and or DFU mode) and then it will ask you if you wont to restore & update. Click "yes" and it will take about 10 mins.. then you should be on your way.... Let me know if it worked for you.. Thanks...

Does not turn om

it's possible that you have a bad power switch circuit .
have you plugged an a/c charger into the ipod yet?
it should boot with an a/c charger.
also,
plug it into the computer and see if itune recognizes it, if so then your LCD is probably bad and you just don;t know it's on.

and if you have put the ipod into dfu mode it will come up on itunes as being in recovery mode.
go ahead and restore it, if you worried about a jailbreak, dont, you can jail break it easy after it's restored. but i would make sure you have a copy of your current firmware prior so you can restore to the some firmware or something close.
here is a link to a firmware for the 2g: ipod touch firmware

here are the steps to put the ipod in dfu mode:
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Plug the usb cable into the Ipod and NOT into the computer.
Hold the Home Button down for 5 second (do not release it)
Then Press and hold the Power Button for approx 10 secs (count them out)
Your iPod will reboot.
Release the power button and continue holding the Home button for an additional 27secs.
You may see the screen go blank or not.
Plug the USB end into the computer with itunes open.
Your ipod will mount in recovery mode.
When you go to press restore press the SHIFT key when you hit restore and choose the firmware you have downloaded.
