Can not turn on wirless capability using Fn & F2 keys

I had wireless router turned on laptop and on internet. Then ran an errand for 25 mins. When I got back, internet was disconnected. I tried to re-establish, but kept being told that I needed to turn on wireless capabilities. I have kept trying to press Fn & F2 keys, but wireless will not come on. I pulled up support page by using LAN connection and saw that there was a known issue with wireless router, so I followed instructions and downloaded new driver for Marvell wireless (D10236-002-001.exe - Marvell Wireless LAN Driver). But still not able to turn on wireless access.

What else do I need to do to get connected wireless?

I have restarted computer. I have taken battery out then restarted. I have restored to previous day. I have right clicked and did a repair. It keeps just coming up that that I need to turn on wireless capability. The only way to do that is to press Fn & F2 keys. This is not working Fn key is working with other keys, just not the F2 key. I have logged onto Gateway support and they have a posting that there is a known isssue with driver that may not be able to see networks. I have downloaded recommended driver and have uninstalled and loaded and restarted laptop twice and still not able to turn on wireless capabilities.

I contacted Gateway support last night. They were no help at all. They just wanted to blame ISP. I told them that I could not even detect any ISP because can not turn on wireless. I am connect with same ISP via LAN. Just not able to get wireless turned on. Gateway now can not find my registration, so now have to go thru process to verify my purchase before they will do anything else.

I see that I will have to find out for myself. I have looked thru help and have googled "Fn". I can not figure out a back door to turn on this wireless. I can't believe that they removed the physical switch to pressing these two keys and not have a backup to ability to reset the shortcut.

    Thanks for the help.

I'm having this same problem. All of a sudden, I can't turn on the wireless capabilities using the FN + F2 keys. And of course, Gateway is no help!!

What laptop make and model do you have? There is normally a key combination that can be pressed to enable the wireless.

Commonly this is the "Fn" + "F2" keys or another "F" key.

Dell Inspiron 1525 cannot connect and says I need to turn on wireless capability using function key combination - what is it?

The wireless radio combination should be the Fn+F2 keys to activate it. That is to hold down Fn and hit the F2 key.

Can't turn on my wirless capability on HP Notebook

You didn't post the model number of your laptop but you may want to try FN+F2.

Usually the toggle switch for the wireless is on the front right hand side of the machine and has a light to tell you whether it's enabled.

What combination of keys will switch on my wireless capability?

When it says to press the FN key and the F2 key it means that there is a particular key with the letters FN on it, press this key and the F2 key at the same time to turn on and off the wireless. ITS NOT THE F AND THE N KEY , ITS THE FN KEY.

Laptop cannot find wireless network

The built-in switch on your laptop must've been turned off. Normally it has a switch that you can toggle on. Sometimes, there's a combination of 2 keys on your keyboard to toggle on the wifi switch. Normally the combination is Fn and F2. Just press them simultaneously and it will trigger your wireless capability.
