Question about Philips CDR795 2-Disc CD Recorder

Cd recorder stuck in Dealer Mode

I have an older cdr 770/17 single disc cd recorder. When I turn it on after the opening screen it says 'insert cd', when I push the open/close button to insert the cd, I hear a click but the tray does not open. The display then reads 'Dealer Mode.'
Is the unit broken, or is there a way to get it out of 'Dealer Mode' and working again.
Thanks for any help.

I tried pressing and holding the display button with the unit off, but the tray still wont open. I even tried holding the display button while I turned the unit on and that did not help.

When I turn the unit on I hear a click noise and when I press the open tray button it will display "Dealer Mode," and still will not open.

I tried the solution but it did not work on my unit.

I kept trying different things. I held the open/close button down while I turned the unit on and the 'Dealer Mode' on the Display left and was replaced by 'Open" but the unit still will not open the cd tray.

It makes a noise like it's going to open but does not.

I can then push the 'Play" button and the Display will show 'Reading' then 'No Disc' then 'Open' but will not open the cd tray.

Guess I will just have to purchase a new machine.

Thanks for trying I appreciate it.

With the unit in Standby mode (off), press and hold the Display button. The trays will then unlock.

    Try this instead:

    1. Turn the unit off and disconnect the power cord.

    2. Wait 60 seconds.

    3. While holding down the Standby button, plug the unit back into the power outlet. This will put the unit in "dealer mode"

    4. Hold the Stop button for 3-4 seconds until the unit begins to power down. Dealer mode should now be disabled.

My 570 CDR will not load a disc - it just keeps saying 'no disc' - whichever type is inserted either blank or pre - recorded. Any thoughts on this

The laser is either bad or has a dirty lens. Open the unit and inspect the lens - if it's dirty, clean carefully with a "Q" tip and alcohol. Turn the player on and see if it emits light from the lens and also observe it move up and down.

Problem with Finalizing Disc

When you insert the disc what does the recorder display after it examines it (Reading TOC)? - CDR, TOC, CDR-W, NO TOC?

It should know the disc is not finalized and let you either record more on it or finalize it.

If not, and you need to recover the 4 tracks try loading the disc on a DVD player. My old Pioneer will read unfinalized CDR-A's so I can digitally copy what's on them back to another CDR-A.

My cd recorder wont read blank cds help me please

Do as it asks, insert blank CD-Audio or CD-Music media.

Discs for recording
For recording, make sure to use special audio discs only.
These discs are marked with “Digital Audio” and the logos shown below.
There are two different types of audio discs for the use on this CD recorder:
– CD-Audio Recordable (CDR) discs
These discs can be recorded on once and
play in all standard CD players and CD
recorders, when they are finalized.
– CD-Audio ReWritable (CDRW) discs
These discs can be recorded on, erased and
re-recorded many times and play in CDRW
compatible CD players and CD recorders,
when they are finalized.
– All Philips CD players and CD recorders
with the sticker shown here are CDRW
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of Philips audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only.
Note: Do not use a computer CDR or CDRW as recording will not work!

Go here and download the manual. You'll need it.

Denon CDR-W1500 not recording

I had the exact problem and could not get any of the CR-Rs that I had to work. I looked up the code in the user's manual where it said the error means it's not a recordable audio CD and to refer to page 6. I looked at the front of the manual and saw that it mentions that the CD-Rs must be audio CD-R discs. I did some research online and found that there are in fact differences between CD-Rs that are just marked that and those marked as Audio or Music CD-Rs. I bought a set of CD-Rs that clearly had marked "Compact Disc Digital Audio Recordable" on the package. When I inserted this disc, I had no problems getting the recording to work. So, make sure the discs you use are clearly marked "Audio" or "Music". A computer burner won't know the difference, but your Denon recorder will.

RCA CD recorder/player CDRW120

You sure it's recognizing the CDR? And you are using 'consumer audio' cdr? Watch it at all times. If it 'opc fails' after you put a blank in it still shows as a CDR and 0:00 on the display but won't record. It's easy to miss.

Just bought this CDR 570 and not use yet.

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!
