In the start menu, bring up Command Prompt. In it type IPCONFIG and it will display all your connection details, make a note of them.
The router should pick up your IP automatically?

Cannot connect tablet to WiFi

I've looked up the device, there seems to be a consensus of people having difficulty with this tablet connected to secure WiFi, as in WiFi that has a password to connect.

You could try to turn off the password requirement on your WiFi to see if this is true, but I wouldn't recommend doing this in the slightest.

Frankly, I'm not sure why this would be in any android device.

I would recommend trying to change the encryption of your router's WiFi and see if that helps any, and it wouldn't hurt to turn off your WiFi's password, see if it works or not, then turn it immediately back on again.

You would have to consult your router's documentation if you're unsure of how to do this.

Hi- have an LG Network Blu Ray Disc Player 80530 and a Samsung HD LCD flat screen. Do I need a wii fi adapter to plug into the LG or is it ready and if so, how to I connect it to my network without...

I did not find a LG 80530. LG Blu Ray players begin with BD and as the name indicates they are networked enabled. At a minimum you can connect to a router via a RJ 45 cable. Some people call them an ethernet cable. You will be able to stream Netflix, Hulu and and other services upon enrollment in the particular service. You are given a code that you enrol with on line through your computer. However, it is unclear if the LG units come with a built in WiFi card for connecting to a router wirelessly. You should check with the manual. You may have to purchase the minature WiFi card which plugs into a USB port on the disc player and set it up via the manufacturers procedures. Again, enrollment procedures are the same for connecting wirelessly.
Just a point of clarification the wireless connection is to a wireless router from the disc player and not from the player to the TV.

I've been trying to connect my desktop to a wireless network. I have a Linksys wireless G adapter. It is installed and connected. The problem is my wireless connection through windows isn't connecting. It...

Is the desktop connected via the wired network also? The IP address it's trying to assign in this case comes from the router, if you are plugged into the router with a cable you should be able to reach it through IE at address 192.168.1.0 (maybe 1.1 for linksys). It should come up and ask for an ID and password. The default is something like admin and blank password but you may have reset it. Anyway all that info is in the router manual which can be downloaded. Once in, check the DHCP settings. DHCP sets the IP address and it probably conflicts with something else on the network or a different network. You could just try rebooting everything first, that's always a good choice. For instance, if you have a laptop that's connected, DHCP may have given your IP address to it, when you try to connect from the desktop, it's trying to renew an address instead of getting a new one, because it's lease hasn't expired. It gets confused, just try rebooting everything.

Normally you can log into routers by entering the ip into internet explorer, the WEP/WPA wireless keys should be under the wireless settings tab.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hello, my computer has an 169 ip address, i've tried to renew the ip it wont renew it, but other computer works fine on the same router, any suggestions how can i get rid of that 169 ip address? thanks

First make sure your network connection is plugged in and working (i.e. look where the cable goes into your computer and has a green light on near it). 169's a re the windows default when no connection is available.

Then, if the cable (or wireless connection?) is OK, click on start > control panel> Netwok and internet connections>

Click on your Lan (ow WLAN?) connection and hit properties.

Navigate down to the 4th (or 5th depending) in the top box to TCP/IP and highlight it, hit properties, and select "automatically configure" for both the IP adress and DNS Servers, hit Apply, then OK, wait a few seconds and you should be good (assuming it's not actually your router handing out the "169" adress.

If all is not well, try a different network cable or port on your router, or get back with more detail.

I have installed uninstalled my laptop to the netgear wireless. It won't connect to the secured wireless but only to tthe unsecured It then says TCP?IP disabled for this connection

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, which is the Netgear, the WiFI / AP router or the wireless networking card of the laptop?

Offhand, that there are at least two (2) networks that could be detected by the laptop indicates that the WiFi is both receiving and transmitting (it works and therefore the issue is settings & configurations). Which of the networks is yours; the secured or unsecured?

Alternately, determine the SSID of your WiFi network and the PASSKEY used or the security system used (if one is used in your system/network). Additionally, are you using the Netgear Smart Wizard Wireless Assistant or the Windows built-in Wireless Network Connection?

For the secured system, use the PASSKEY determined as per above; for the unsecured, it may be employing MAC filter, try manually inputting the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

Postback result(s) / updates.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Ubuntu WiFi

Your problem description is too brief, but try the following:

- Check if your wifi is turned on (there should be a button on your laptop)
- Check if your external wifi (usb stick, or whatever you have) is installed properly
- Check your IP address, if its in the same IP-range as your router's
- Check your gateway IP
- If you have access reset your router

It should work so far by now, if not:

- Switch to roaming mode
- Try to connect your laptop through an ethernet cable, if it works find out those settings (IP, gateway etc.) and use them with your wifi thing.

If this doesn't help, there is either a problem with your router or the network must be secured.
