Hello,

Please try go to control panel and then administrative tools, computer management. click drive management then delete the excess drive which is unknown to you.

else if this not resolve you can maybe its a network drive. If you are sure that this not annoy to you then you can ignore, However if is bad to you then you can eliminate that by clean format and re installation of windows again.

may this help,

MY LG DVD drive not playing or recording. Does not show existence on MY Computer list

Better first checking the connections to it. It might have somehow become disconnected.
Then do a hardware search.
Also look at your hardware profile, see if there are any unknown devices. You might have to re-install drivers.

In my desktop computer the LG CD/DVD writer/reader is showing empty though the CD is filled with data..hat could be the reason, i tried by re-installing the drivers but no success...

Not knowing the operating system, In windows 7 and 8 sometimes it forgets the cd format. Then you need to go to the device manager and remove the drive and let windows re-detect it.

Missing Matshita DVD-RAM UJ880AS

Go into my computer, if DVD driver is shown it will run the DVD-RAM driver," may mean the unit must be replaced". If on the other hand it is missing the driver, it will need to be re-installed, or you can try a systems restore to bring the computer back to an earlier time before this became a issue.

You can try to delete upper and lower filters for your system. go to start>run>type in regedit click ok> start looking for this parth HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318},when click on the folder look on the right column and look for upper/lower filters and delete it. restart system. Try updating the firmware of the optical drive depending on the model. if you want to chekc the model of your drive go to device manager right click my computer>select manage>select device manager then lookf or cd /dvd .

caution:be careful with deleting registry for your system this might affect your operating system functionality.

My disc drive wont let me burn movies on dvd+rw or dvd-r and It did before atleast with the dvd+rw, what could be the reason?

Summary:

1) Press eject button on case, on drive, button on keyboard (if exists).
2) Right-click drive icon in Windows and select Eject.
3) Turn off PC and inert a straightened paper clip into the manual release hole on the drive.

4) Check the power cord on the back of the drive.

Otherwise, here are the manual steps (overview):

1) Uninstall the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and DO NOT RESTART the computer.

2) Uninstall your CD burning software (make sure you have the installation disc or you can resinstall from Start, Programs, PC Help and Tools, Recovery Manager (or Driver/Application Recovery). If you don't have the installation discs, skip this step - it might still work).

3) Open the registry editor (Start -> Run -> enter Regedit) ... might want to make a backup of the registry at this point.

4) Open the following keys:

+ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ SYSTEM
+ CurrentControlSet (or the current control set with lowest number if that is all that is listed)
+ Control
+ Class

5) Select 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. It has to be this exact key - make sure you can see the last numbers!!!

6) Delete the UpperFilter and or the LowerFilters value in the right window if either exists.

7) RESTART the computer - this step is important. Wait for Windows to find and install the CD/DVD drive you removed earlier.

8) Reinstall your burning software and restart the computer again.

I put in a blank cd and I cannot burn it because in my computer it shows that there is no cd inserted

Here you go...I hope this works for you....
CD/DVD Is Not Recognized
spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif Many times, after inserting a disc into the CD or DVD drive, the disc is not recognized by that drive. CD-read and DVD-read issues can be caused by many sources. Perform the procedures presented in this General Computer Advice article when troubleshooting CD-read and DVD-read issues.

Begin with the first procedure and continue through the list. Try using the CD or DVD after each procedure is completed. For any procedure that requires changing current system settings, record the original settings before completing the procedure.
  1. Verify that the correct disc (CD/DVD) is used when prompted to insert the disc.
  2. For programs on DVD, verify that the drive containing the DVD is a DVD drive and not a CD-ROM drive. Most DVD drives will haveDVD printed on the front of the drive. For programs on DVD, consider the following:
  • DVD drives can read both DVD's and CD's.
  • CD-ROM drives can read only CD's.
  1. If multiple disc drives (e.g., CD-ROM and CD-RW, or DVD and DVD-RW, or CD-ROM and DVD-RW, etc.) exist on the computer that can read the disc (refer to the items under Step 2), insert the CD or DVD into the other drive and try the program again.
  2. If you are attempting to install a program and the installation does not begin after inserting the CD/DVD into the proper drive, refer to the program's instructions for the installation procedure.
  3. Clean the CD/DVD in the following manner:
  1. Place a small amount of nonabrasive liquid soap on the shiny side of the CD/DVD.
  2. Using your fingertips and warm water, gently rub the soap on the CD/DVD in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse the CD/DVD thoroughly and dry it using a clean, soft T-shirt or lint-free towel. (Do not use paper towels or tissue paper.)
  1. Try to use a different CD or DVD in the drive to see if that disc can be read.
  2. If possible, insert the problem CD or DVD into the DVD or CD drive of another computer to see if the issue persists.

Windows will not start

Ok ...that message about the PXE is showing up because the computer cant find an operating system on the hard drive for some reason.

Try booting from your Vista DVD ,let setup start then running Start Up repair ....

3. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
NoteIf your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check the information that came with your computer. You may need to change your computers BIOS boot order

4. Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
5. Click Repair your computer.
6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
7. On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem, and if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs.
