My Acer Aspire 5610z flashes a bright neon pink background on and off and then it stays bright pink. Gives me a headache. I can see the items on the screen but the color is distorted. Acer won't help me with this. I replaced the screen and the new screen behaves the same way. When I hook this laptop up to my PC monitor, the PC monitor looks fine but the laptop is still bright pink. Anyone else have this problem? It is most likely the motherboard, anyone know how to replace the motherboard in one of these machines?
Did you also replace the power inverter when replacing the screen???
Well.... With The Description You Give, Having a Pinkish Tone to the whole display, I would Say that the LCD Bulb is Failing, when a lcd bulb starts to fail, it will give off a pink or orangeish color ... But being that you replaced the display with a new one ... that eliminates the lcd bulb as the culprit......
The Power Inverter is located under the LCD Panel.... It is the long rectangular circuit board with the display cable attached to one end and the lcd bulb plugged into the other end.... It Supplies Power to the LCD Bulb... Not only does it supply power, it also converts the power from DC back to AC... They average from $10 to $30 to replace and are fairly easily replaceable to a knowledgable tech.. Search one out on ebay...
No problem, Ya, It's a process of elimination...
First off, You can see Your Screen Externally and it views normally... This eliminates your motherboard, your video card/chip from being the problem...
Which leaves 3 other things ....
1. your display cable
2. Your LCD Bulb
3. Your Power Inverter
Youve replaced the screen, which eliminates number 2...
Now you have #1 and #2 left....
#1 your display cable will not typically show color splashes if it's failing..... it will produce lines and moving bars or grid patterns if its dislodged from its connection to the back panel... or you will get a display that turns on and off....
#2 Your Inverter will show color tones when failing because it is sending the wrong voltage to the bulb... if an lcd bulb does not have full power going to it it will not be capable of omitting the bright white tone and therefore it will only be able to produce a pastel color tone... or again you will get no light to the screen if it fails all together....

No. What is a power inverter and are they possible to get and easy to install? How would it solve the problem? Thanks for your response!!
OK, I am willing to try it at that price. THANKS! No one else I have taken this thing to for repair (Geeksquad at Best Buy and two local techs) have had any suggestions at all. I appreciate your suggestions.
Hello,
In the end, were you able to fix it? I have a computer with the same pinkish tone and would appreciate your update :)
