Question about Compaq Presario Notebook
My laptop will boot but only stays on for a second or so. as soon as I enter the password and sometimes before I enter the password the screen says... preparing to hibernate. Then shuts down.please help! paper due tomorrow
Sounds like a poor power connection on the motherboard. Unfortunately, this isn't an easy fix - you have to completely disassemble the laptop and resolder the power connector. To check and see if this is the case, you can plug in your laptop, set it down on a table(so it doesn't move or get bumped), wait for it to start booting up, then gently wiggle the power cord where it connects to the laptop. If the computer shuts off, then it is, in fact, a loose connector.
