This is a direct drive motor so spinning it by hand says that the bearing is not seizing up so it could be a control or maybe a rps sensor . remove the screws from the back of the control panel and you will see the tech sheet . the sheet will list a number of different models so just follow the GWL15 instructions . you will then be able to see were the fault is and you will be able to activate all components one at a time .

SOURCE: Washer spins but not enough to extract water from clothes or tub.

could be a loss belt or a kinked hose, since you say it feels weak i would think it is not getting up to speed which would be a loss belt or drive train issue, of course it could just be to big a load or on slow spin speed setting

SOURCE: not spinning

It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

  • If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

  • If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

  • The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

  • The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

  • A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

  • The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.

  • The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.
It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

SOURCE: drum does not spin

We have an LG TROMM with the same problem, 3 years old as well. We bought the extended warranty (Huge waste of $$$$).  So far they have determined it is not the motor or either of the control boards.  We think it might be a relay switch or possibly the brake.  Good luck with yours, we just went out and bought a new washer.

SOURCE: lg 801 3f washing machine. 15 seconds after selecting any cycle a

I had the same problem. Redistributing the clothes inside the machine seems to do the trick. Even though the clothes seemed evenly distributed and I had far less than maximum capacity in the machine- it seemed to think that something was out of sync- simply moving the clothes around did the trick!

SOURCE: loose drum bangs during spin cycle turn by hand

your front drum support blocks have failed. remove the tub and, replace or, rebolt them in place so they hold the drum front in place.

Unit not going through spin cycle

i do not know about this lg front load but one thing is common about them.
please inspect if the wash mode fills the water to it normal level. if it exceeds the level then take the plug out remove the back cover lid and you will notice that a black colour pipe usually connected to the drum goes to the horn type unit which is a switch. check the pipe id there is any leakage. the best way is to release from the drum side clean the tip and try to blow air from your mouth if the air leaks then put some rubber glue on the leaks let it dry and then check if the leak is removed.
this is actually the master brain for the machine to detect the water which in turn makes the machine move since if there is water in the drum it will not spin.if this does not help then probably the timer is defective through which you set the cycle.
please also check the water supply pipe that connects to your machine it has a filter which might be clogged. clean and try again.
hope this has been useful

Water pores out on spin

Take off the cover and check for any holes in the top of the plastic tub surrounding the drum . This can occur when the washer is or was previously severely out of balance and the drum rubs a hole in the side of the tub. Since the water is usually below this level until the spin cycle pushes the water up the sides of the tub, it only becomes apparent then. Another possibility is there may be a blockage in the pump or drain hose. If you still have a good amount of water in the tub due to the washer not draining completely before the spin cycle, the water will sling everywhere when it attempts to spin. I hope this helps! Good luck!

The washer will wash and drain but wont spin

If its an LE error on a LG Front Load...DON'T buy a sensor, don't call a repairman...the fix is EASY:

Turn the drum by hand 4-5 times to resettle the load, move spin speed to highest, Quick Wask, Speed Wash and hit the button! You're good to go.

My washer wont go through the spin cycle

I poked at the sensor (sensor that is is the safety lid switch) which is on the right hand side of the top of the machine. The water pumped out and it went into spin cycle. When I released the switch or lever to activate the sensor, the cycle stopped. I then proceeded to unscrew the sensor switch. I carefully I pushed the sensor pad up (It was stuck). Screwed the switch back in place and ...Wha la! She is running like a top. This sight is very helpful. I love not having to pay anyone to fix my problems! Kudos!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!
