Check fuse. Second if radio has any display and no functions are working it is likely a radio failure. To remove and replace this radio is very simple. The top of the dash around the radio will remove allowing for access to the screws retaining the unit.

How do i get the navigation to work

"Navigation ready" probably means you can add an expensive navigation module later on. Its probably not worth it (expensive I think), but maybe if you don't have a smart phone or anything else. Might be able to find cheaper places to buy like ebay. Check this site for details: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/

It wont play dvds and is reading error 12

The only thing you can try is to use a Laser lens cleaner that uses fluid and run it thru a few times. Any retail store sells them now and cost under $20. If that does not work, it needs to be serviced. Which means a transport replacement, they do not re-align lenses. Repair cost between 125-175 Hope this helps

Some buttons don't work

Pioneer AVIC-D1 Touch Screen Recalibration

If your pioneer AVIC car navigation unit does not register your touches or the wrong button is “pressed”, you need to re-calibrate your screen’s digitizer.

1-Hold the Eject button down until the face of the unit drops all the way
2-Using a pen hold down the reset button (just above the joystick) and the navigation disc eject simultaneously.
3-Release the reset button.
4-Release the dvd eject button next. The display will read “press reset”
5-Push the joystick up two times.
6-Push the joystick down twice.
7-Press the joystick in.
8-The service menu will appear after a short pause. You can navigate the service menu using the joystick.
9-Chose the first menu option and press in on the joystick.
10-Trace the screen with a stylus.
11-"P.ADJ" is the back button
12-Chose the second menu item in order to calibrate the touch screen. Use a stylus again and tap the "+" sign on the screen. (You may have to touch slightly off center if the digitizer is damaged. In which case things will still be off but it will be much better.)

Cd navigator

Hi,

If the unit is completely dead, you may want to check the inline fuse and/or the fuse of the vehicle assigned for accessories/radio.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
